With my boiler working again I started to unpack with my Mum and tried and get my flat looking straight again for the new term. Finding proper homes for all my most important things took a little re-organising but it is looking loads better this evening.
I always knew where I wanted to film today’s verse, right opposite the RCS is the National Piping Centre for Scotland and I thought that it would be just perfect.
We walked over to the centre just after lunch as there was a break in the weather and as we walked down the steps opposite the centre I could see that the centre was closed 🙁
We tried several times during the afternoon but there was no sign of the centre opening at all. I talked it through with my Dad and we decided to go back after dark and film outside on the steps.
As we walked back towards the centre it was still bathed in darkness but literally as we arrived on the steps outside all the lights went on inside and someone opened the doors 🙂
We went inside to try and persuade them to let us film inside but there was a wedding on and the bride and guests were due any minute but if we were quick we could film on the steps, All the staff on duty wanted to get involved and I asked them to get together for a picture 🙂
We went outside and filmed today’s verse and finished by taking some pictures of the centre.

We have pipe bands too, one that used to play at the band tattoo. Looking forward to tomorrow’s post.
It’s such a strong musical identity for the Scots, I’ve loved learning more about the culture since I moved to Glasgow 😉

Great pics..so sad that they couldn’t let you record a 30 second video inside. Alas, the enjoyment is in the performer, not the set.
Always good to have a great set 😉 my room mate is a set designer, he works really hard and puts his heart and soul into his scenery, he was exhausted before the Christmas break working all hours to get the set perfect for the pantomime. It makes me very aware and grateful for the people back stage.

Hi Deborah, I love stumbling into circumstances like this, the staff were lovely its a great venue. I must find out if I could have my 21st party there in November it would be great to have a ceilidh. The staff were lovely, I bet the wedding party was great.

As soon as I’ve finished catching up on my blog I’m drawing my picture for today, I did one every day rather than trying to do several at a time.
My parents are putting up shelves, cleaning! And have even washed my windows before they go back home so I offered to cook Sunday dinner but we’re going out for a roast apparently so that’ll be good 😉

A museum for the pipes. Only a dedicated musician with a plethora of tastes would visit and write a intriguing blob entry about them. Kudos.

It’s hard to top the piping centre for today’s finale, in the summer there are drummers busking in Glasgow and a marching band with drummers, I guess it’s too much to hope they’re there today! It’s quite wet today too :/. I’d love to sing some Scottish songs with a group of pipers.
It’s cool you’re enjoying the art too I’ve not been drawing for a while and it makes me peacefully happy to do it. I think I’ll carry on illustrating my reflection journal when the mood takes me 😉

Your voice is lovely. Hopefully, the tape can be edited to eliminate background noise before final production. Sounds as if you filmed near a traffic circle for Day 11. If the bride and groom had met you, I’m sure they would have asked you inside to perform for them and their guests.
I do sing at weddings 😉 it’s so romantic and lovely. Quite stressful for the wedding singer though you don’t want to mess up on someone’s big day 😉

FABULOUS. We learnt this song in school when I was about 6. We made all the characters out of sticky paper ( the sort you had to lick) The pipers all had little piccolo type pipes and since then I have always imagined them thus. so happy to have a new ‘take’ on the pipers. Will miss this little adventure so much Charlotte. Have LOVED IT. xxxxxxxx

What a neat Center. Your tartan plaid above reminds of what I think may be my colors. I’ve just been doing my genealogy and have tracked to a couple of clans! How fun! Love the bagpipes and your drawing depicts them wonderfully! 🙂
