Twelve Days of Christmas – Day 12

Day12

Well folks this is my last post of my Christmas challenge and I have had loads of fun thinking what to do each day and allowing myself to break my voice back in gently. The response from everyone has been fabulous and it has been a wonderful help to me in getting back to full voice.

I thought long and hard about what to do for my last instalment and after mulling over two or three suggestions I decided to keep it simple, just me sat at my piano 🙂

Day12B
Robert Gear and Me

My friends have all been arriving in Glasgow over the weekend ready for tomorrow’s first day back and Robert, my flat share, arrived late this afternoon.  We thought that it would be a great idea to take my Mum, Dad and brother to Waxy O’Connors in Glasgow City centre before they headed off home.

It has a great atmosphere on a Sunday afternoon as many of our friends get together and play improvised Scottish folk music at the front of the pub and really gets you in a cheerful mood, which I needed before saying goodbye to my family 🙂

Day12A
Susan Bates ( Harp ), Robert Gear, Me and Jillian Hunter ( Flute )

To give you a taste I filmed a short burst and put it at the end of today’s verse so I hope you enjoy it too.

THE END 😉

    1. I must speak to Eric my friend who plays the fiddle about him teaching me some of the songs they play. I don’t know why I haven’t thought of it before.

      All the best

    1. I only had my phone to tape them on which was a shame because the video would have better lighting and sound but they were too good to pass on the opportunity.

    1. Thank you that was the toughest picture yet to draw, I’m out of practise. At the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland they have courses in Scottish Music a BA with Honours, and Scottish Music – Piping. Both degrees take four years full time study and these friends of mine are at the top of their game and learning all the time gigging with each other it’s fabulous.

  9. Go Charlotte, well done on your healing yourself! Loved to hear your improv friends… grew up with a dad who played jazz clarinet and sax and later, mum’s boyfriend had a bluegrass band… lots of improv at home… Well done, darlin!
    ‘Hugs from NZ,
    Lizzi

    1. Thanks Lizzi, I can just get up and sing and dance stone cold sober so I love being involved in improv. It’s an aim of mine this year to try to learn some jazz and easy listening tracks.
      Hugs to you too,
