Christmas2014Blog

It’s been lovely relaxing at home with family and catching up with old friends that I miss when I am up living in Glasgow.  It is also a great opportunity for me to spend a little time connecting with my friends here on my blog, Facebook, Twitter and Google+.  During term time being able to read your comments and advice is so helpful and can be a real boost.  2014 has been a good year for me and I want to thank you all so much for being part of it.

I wanted to record a Christmas Carol to share with you all and pass on a little bit of love, joy and my very best wishes.  I have chosen to sing ‘The First Mercy’ by Peter Warlock, it is not as well-known as many of the carols that you hear at this time of year.  It is a lovely carol whose lyrics portray the nativity through the imagined eyes of the animals in the stable.   I do hope that you enjoy it  🙂

I wish peace and joy to you all and whatever you believe in, or celebrate at this time of year, may the coming days bring you good health, love and happiness.

Not well-known as you say,but a hymn to our Humble Christ through the eyes of the innocent animals … It was only a lowly manger but it held the King of kings who brought love to the world.May Christmas bring love to our hearts !

    1. I cringe listening to my speaking voice, of course this is the Charlotte voice Mum wishes I’d use all the time like 😜. Seasons greetings to you, kiddo and Mrs S.

  5. Celebrating Christmas tonight with our family’s traditional English roots with mincemeat, butter tarts, Yorkshire pudding, Prime Rib and of course with a Christmas Pudding at the end. It has been well over 100 hundred years since our family came to Canada from England but some of the traditional foods have remained. Merry Christmas and thanks for sharing your voice.

    1. Sounds delicious James have a lovely time, we’re having Chinese take-out tonight, but tomorrow we have roast, stuffing, yorkshires, roasters, mash, veg, sausages in blankets and gravy, then when we make some room around 5 ish we have dessert, either trifle or treacle and apple steamed pudding and custard, hmmmm.

    1. I first learnt this carol for a competition the timing is tricky and it’s easier with a live Accompaniest but it’s become one of my favourites. Happy Christmas to you and your family.

      1. if you’ll pardon, that can also be a cheappie cliche, 😀 we called the heatin engineer or my brother would have had to take a load off. 😀 take a load off relax in an ironic twist of cliche.

  8. Thanks for sharing the song with us Charlotte! 🙂 Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a New Year filled with love, peace, joy, hope, good health & many more exciting adventures & dreams coming true! 🙂 XO, Violet

  9. Our internet connection is so bad that I cannot listen to your song at the moment, unfortunately – I will be back later to see if things have improved. Just read your reply to a previous comment when you said you were singing along to the Muppet’s Christmas Carol. One of our favourites too – a really good and almost faithful-to-the-book version. We were upset when we got the DVD version to find Belle’s song had been cut. Why, I wonder? It’s a lovely song. We can still play our old video-tape version which has the film in its entirety.

    1. We have a version with Belle’s song and I know all the words to sing along to, it is such a shame it gets cut. Thanks Clare for all your support and encouragement this year.
      Best wishes

  10. In the middle of the night I started to see all the blogs of the people that started following mine, just for curiosity and see what they do, and I get lost in surprises about these kind of things. I never thought that I could meet around wordpress people like you, your are an amazing artist, and is very pleasant hear your voice, tomorrow in the morning I will share your works with my family because is really beautiful what you do.
Thanks a lot to follow my blog, and hope we could talk someday about the world drowned in art.
