Cream Teas and March Music

This weekend I have had a lovely time with my family who visited me in Glasgow. We spent most of the weekend walking up a good appetite and discovering new places. It was very picturesque, especially due to the snow falling. However it didn’t stick and we were greeted today with some glorious sunshine. My younger brother Thomas was competing in Leeds in a Latin and Ballroom event with his association from Glasgow University. They all did superbly and Thomas got into the Ballroom semi-final and the Latin quarter-final. I wish them all the best of luck for nationals in Blackpool at the end of the month!

On the 17th March 2016, alongside my year group (fourth year Batchelor of Music students) at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, we will be performing scenes from operas. I have been chosen to sing Fiordiligi in the humorous Cosi Fan Tutte Act 1 finale . I am really looking forward to staging rehearsals next week! I hope to get some shots and I will share what we get up to and the context of the scene 🙂  The tickets are £7.50 and rehearsals are going well.

On the 18th March 2016, George Todica and I are performing at the South Hill Park Arts Centre in Reading, a selection of beautiful art songs, piano and piano/voice. We are really looking forward to this performance.

Russell Lomas and I will be performing on the 30th March 2016 in a concert at Walton Hall, Warrington at 7:45 to 9:30pm with Elliot Gresty (clarinet) and Meera Maharaj (flute). The concert has been organised for previous prizewinners of the Warrington Young Musician of the Year. It will be wonderful to be reunited with these two fabulous musicians and I am excited to hear their progress and see how much they have achieved since we last met.

    1. Thanks Eric, it’s a shame I can’t be his dance partner 🙂 I miss my ballroom competitions. He has a new dance partner this year and they’re starting to see the results for their training. I hope you’re good.

    1. Merci, I’m very grateful that people remember me and still call me with opportunities to sing. I’m working hard, hope your new ventures are coming to fruition.

  1. Sounds lovely! Delighted to see that talent runs, merrily, through your family. Happy Valentine’s Day to you my friend. <3

    1. Matt and Tom sang for a while with the same teacher at our High School, they’re both actually quite good but Matt and I are very competitive so I’m glad he went off to do Maths hehe and Tom likes to dance and write more so he dropped the singing.

  2. angry wasp noises emminate from the other room – it’s decidedly not opera, rock opera or otherwise.
bmus…beem us… i’ll bemused atad thinking if I can’t pretend up something clever with the acronym.
cream teas sound good – snow sticky or otherwise is decidedly NOT romantic sounding 😛
I’m trying to get up the gumption for a salad. I’ve a choice between a typical romaine kind they’re rather much fun in that you can take two big leaves and two little leaves and arrange a butterfly base or two medium leaves as a kind of boat and fill it with diced/dicey things. however I’m thinking jicama- and thus leave you with a picture… the drawback is i zapped my hand earlier…also not romantic… and thus playing with citrus juice is liable to be even less romantic – unless you’d like to be darker than i take you for and sing tom leher’s masochism tango…. anyways jicama as a simpler salad … http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/87/fc/ac/87fcac9deb200b16546b972ab27b4efe.jpg

    1. BMus = Bachelor of Music I must stop using acronyms 🙂 Those spinach chips look good and I must try making slow cooker potato soup I saw on the Pinterest page link you suggested. Lovely to hear from you.

    1. Thank you Cindy, the art world is changing and it’s very important to learn how to create opportunities. My brother is a love, he’s letting me use his couch in a couple of weeks.

    1. It would be super if you could make it but I realise it’s quite a distance. I’d love your feedback on our program as the concert performance is a finale to my research project.

    1. That is so true, and I get calls from my Nana expecting me to be buried in snow and it’s clear in Glasgow. It’s the winds that are biting (lots of moisturiser).

  4. You do March music without singing any marches? And your brother takes steps to advance in Latin without even knowing any irregular verbs? All very confusing. 🙂
    Congratulations, anyway.

  5. Excellent to read your udpates, dear Charlotte… congrats on all your projects, my friend… oh, and it seems your brother is also a talented person…. say cheers and well done on my behalf…. Love and best wishes, Aquileana 🐥💥
