6 Years of Blogging

I can’t believe how quickly the years have passed since I started my studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Glasgow.  Keeping my blog and sharing my experiences has been a great way for me to look back and reflect, allowing me to set new targets and goals for the years ahead.  To celebrate this, my sixth anniversary, I thought that I would select several posts at random from the last six years and share their links with you. I hope you enjoy them, maybe you have other posts that you remember, let me know.

    1. I just hope I’m able to keep on the momentum and interest there for everyone. Sometimes it’s just about the rehearsal and learning new music, auditioning, constantly trying to keep moving forward.
      Best wishes Annette,
      Charlotte 🙋🏼

    1. I was quite sad to hear Google+ were stopping their platform I hope that WordPress keeps on with this platform and keeps us all connected as it allows us to keep ownership of our content.
      All my best wishes

  1. What a fabulous 6 years they have been Charlotte,
Keep on blogging and enjoying everything you are achieving, with lots more to come..
Love the photos, they bring back lots of lovely memories xx

  2. When you visited my blog, and I followed the link back to you in curiosity, I didn’t expect t find a teenage sporano singing music that (I’m sorry) still isn’t my favourite kind. I certainly didn’t think I’d still be following her six years later, but I look forward to your posts every Sunday night and follow your career enthusiastically. One day, you’ll sing again some time and some place I can get to, and you’ll look out and say to yourself “I know that fat old bloke in the audience…”

    1. Martin, you are so lovely and supportive, I think you’d like some of the new songs I’m learning at the moment, I’m organising recitals right now, some up North so I hope I can persuade you along to one to listen to how far I’ve come, even if it’s only to have tea and cake afterwards 😆.
      All my best wishes

So many opportunities with more to come, the photos are fabulous
    With loads of lovely memories.xx

    1. Thank you, I can’t even imagine what’s in store the next six years, which seems odd having spent the last six years in institutional training programs and the previous seven years in the same High School 🎢 whoosh haha.
      All my best wishes

    1. At the moment I’m learning a Korean song and several Italian songs and arias, I have plans for some new Russian songs and arias too. I haven’t got enough hours in a day 😁.
      All my best wishes
      Charlotte

      1. I have emailed you the songs today, my dear Charlotte. Don’t hesitate to contact me regarding the songs you need. I will help you with transliterations & translation. The Russian is a difficult language. So, it is always great to have a native speaker at your side! 🙂 Have a nice week!
        Maria 🙂 🙂 🙂

  4. Congratulations dear Charlotte. It is great to see that you got past the stage of blogging in PJs almost immediately, while the rest of us still blog in PJs. 🙄🤗
Have a glorious next six years my friend 🙂 <3

    1. My comment just disappeared and crashed me out so I’ll try again if you get my message twice apologies in advance.

  5. Wow! Hard to believe Charlotte. I have enjoyed every post. What never seems to change is your enthusiasm for your work, and the joy you project. I’m looking forward to following the wonderful Charlotte Hoather saga for years to come!

    1. Thank you very much Peter, it’s been wonderful having you along in the adventure and your very supportive advice and information is most welcome. I’ve some projects coming up that I can’t wait to write about and I’m doing everything I can to keep moving forward.

  6. Bravo, Charlotte! I admire that you’ve stuck with it, cultivated it and grew it for this long! I’ve only celebrated my 1st year. I hope I can one day celebrate my 6th! Do you have any advice to share that may help me keep the fire burning?

    1. You’ve made a great start Laura, blogging everyday is tough, I only manage once per week now, always keep up your blog friendships, comment freely and experiment with post topics 🙋🏼 hope to see you again.
      All my best wishes

  7. You’re not alone, loads of people type Heather 😁 no problem 👨🏼‍🎨

  8. Congratulations, Charlotte! The years do certainly go by quickly and the older you get – the faster time flies! 🙂 I begin to feel like I should just leave the Christmas decorations up!!

    1. Thank you Hilary, I thought I was busy at University but having to take care of everything myself was a real wake up call, finding my own opportunities with pay, no more student discount, just being left to decide everything for yourself is quite daunting but I’m getting used to it now, six months later hehe. Here’s to making some more moments….

    1. Thank you for your confidence in me Noelle, I still have to call my Mum to check what temperature to wash my coat in the machine and call up my coach to ask if I can learn such a song in three weeks, but I’m getting there 😁 hehe.
      All my best wishes

    1. I will do, it’s a nice anchor part of my weekly routine, and sometimes I’m doing something I just think oh this will make a great blog post to share. Let’s hope I can keep on rolling forward,
      All my best wishes

  9. Congratulations! I started following you because my son was considering an opera career. He decided to keep singing for a hobby and pursue other career goals. But I kept following because it’s been such fun to watch (and hear) you grow as an artist. Hope you keep finding time to blog!

    1. Thank you Lynn, I like blogging because as I’ve said above it keeps some structure into my week. I hope your son still finds time to sing, I know dentist singers and men returning into training after getting their business qualifications just because the desire to perform never leaves. My two brothers chose to pursue careers in banks but they still dance competitively, both given up the singing though sadly.

  10. Congratulations, Charlotte! Six years is a long time in the world of blogging. I always enjoy reading your posts, as they are always cheerful and positive. Like you, no doubt! Here’s to the next six years 🥂

    1. Thank you, I’m a naturally upbeat person and I always try to find the silver lining, look on the bright side or refuse to get bogged down. Cheers 🥂 to you too.

  11. Congratulations, Charlotte! Yes, these years have passed by so quickly! I enjoyed being reminded of these posts very much and I hope you are able to continue to let us know how you are getting on in the future. xx

    1. I like the blogging routine Clare, every day throws something up different for me at the moment so it’s nice to have a weekly deadline that I set myself for my post and if I’m having a dull week I think let’s make something happen hehe.
      All my best wishes

  12. It has been that long! Wow!

Finding your blog in the beginning of my blogging exercise was great. It opened my eyes to the huge variety of people who blog. And to find someone who had a had different passion (activity wise) and to find commonalities in process was a game changer too.

Achieving anything requires dedication and determination. It has been great to see you take on tasks and grow.

Thanks for letting us all in on the journey!

    1. That’s exactly what I love about blogging the variety and things I’ve learned over the years, I’m very curious and you can get very insular as a musician and tied up in music so to expand my horizon and talk regularly with a wide variety of people has been a god send to me. Also to have the support and know people are cheering me on helps me to pick myself back up.

    1. Wait till you read what I’ve got coming up in the next six months 😁 even I’m wondering how I’m going to learn it all hehe. That reminds me where are my vitamins and energy drink! Hehe.

      1. I’m pacing myself, it’s more getting back into performance gear, you can have weeks with no performances but lots of preparation.

    1. Thank you, I’m so happy I have my blog history to remind me if I feel I’m stuck or have had one rejection too many in a week, it’s nice to focus on the positives and read all my supportive messages so thanks again for commenting.
