Charlotte’s journey in performance started with dance, pre-primary aged 3, one lesson each week with the British Ballet Organisation in both ballet and tap. She was a bit of a drama queen so aged six her parents enrolled her in a Saturday morning Stagecoach theatre school where she acted, danced and sang in groups of three stages over ten years with many musical theatre chorus and principal roles during that time. At about the age of ten she started 30 minute piano lessons at school, it was the first time she read music; she also started IDTA Ballroom and Latin dancing together with all her family. She met singing teacher Jayne Wilson GRNCM at Knutsford High School who introduced her to classical music and opera.  At 16, she commenced specialised musical training at the Junior Royal Northern College of Music passing her ABRSM Grade 8 voice with distinction and Grade 5 piano, also passing Grade 5 Music Theory with distinction. A level success followed in Mathematics; Contemporary  Dance; Drama; Music and Music Theatre.

Charlotte studied a four year BMus Music Performance degree at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS), graduating in 2016 with Honours of the First Class. During this time she sang in numerous prestigious venues with the RCS chamber choir and Les Sirenes female chamber choir for three years for a full list of works please request Charlotte’s current cv by e-mail. She took part in several fully staged operas: La Rondine; Simon Boccanegra; Sir John in Love (Dance Captain); and Dido and Aeneas (First Witch) and several opera scenes.  Charlotte represented the RCS in the Kathleen Ferrier Bursary competition in Blackburn and was awarded the audience prize having won a coveted place in the final; she went on to win 3rd prize in the Hugh S Roberton Scot Song Competition 2013. In May 2014 she was Highly Commended in the Jean Highgate scholarship competition.

Charlotte formed a lieder partnership with concert pianist George Todica. George accompanied Charlotte in the 2015 Llangollen International Eisteddfod where she was awarded a 3rd place in the ‘Voice of the Future’ category at the age of 20. They won a prestigious invitation to the 2015 International Workshop on the songs of Edvard Grieg in Norway culminating in a final performance of songs from Haugtussa, and they performed songs from this cycle at the Leeds Lieder Masterclass Fringe Concert in 2016.

    1. Yes but I love Salsa, cha cha cha, rhumba and the samba. I miss going every Sunday ;). I teach my friends to Salsa so they can come dancing occasionally 😉

How exciting Viking blood, maybe? Difficult to trace back 😉 I’m pale enough lol

    1. Thank you for the nomination, now term is over, I’ve just got one more week to round everything off, then I should have more time to catch up on all my neglected awards.

  3. Heya thank you for checking out my blog, I appreciate the follow! It must have taken so much dedication and hard work to achieve all you have, I’m inspired after reading your bio 🙂 I used to do ballet too and went through the grades, from Primary to Advanced level – it’s a beautiful form of dance. Looking forward to reading more of your posts 😀 x

  4. Hi Charlotte. Thank you following my blog. It was so nice of you. Looking forward to reading your entries here. I already have a general feel of your passion. It would definitely be very inspiring to read on the details. 🙂 Regards.

  5. Thanks for the follow. Here is a suggestion for your resume that you asked for in your introduction:
This is the biography that I used for my Artist Signal page in February 2014, if anybody would like to make suggestions on how I could improve it then please leave me a comment. I probably need two different biographies and I would love to have one that feels a little warmer and more personal and a second that can be used in more professional situations like audition applications. What do you think?

To go from the clinical to the warmer personal feel, use the first person narrative rather than the 3rd person. Example:

By the time I was a young girl of eleven I was privileged to sing at my high school with Jayne Wilson, who after two years at the junior RNCM in Manchester, passed her ABRSM grade 8 vocal with distinction and a grade 5 piano with merit. I fell in love with her beautiful arias and wanted to join in on the stage of opera and classical music.

Also watch for such errors as quoted below. I find the use of Microsoft Word extremely beneficial in such matters.

If you would like any further help from me feel free to contact me via e-mail – John@JohnSleeperBooks.com.

I wish you all the best. – John

Charlotte discovered her love of opera and classical music at the age of eleven when she started singing with Jayne Wilson GRNCM at High School. Coming from a “none” musical family the power and emotion of these beautiful arias attracted her like a moth to a flame. After two years at the Junior RNCM in Manchester she passed her ABRSM grade 8 vocal with distinction and grade 5 piano with Merit.

    1. Hi Andy I’ve just read your post about time constraints and I know exactly how you feel, it is important to keep your blog alive because it’s the comments that expand your posts and helps you to grow but having restricted time to visit your blog chums isn’t a great feeling.

      1. That’s the thing, I want to publish more but due to my hectic busy schedule I wouldn’t be able to read everyone else’s posts and I’d feel selfish for doing that 🙁

  13. Charlotte, thank you for following my photo site. I thought you looked familiar, I saw your website some time ago. Glad your career is going well. Be well!

  14. Thank you for following my blog, I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to contact you but my recent life has been more than a little hectic. I love your blog and how upbeat and interesting you are (that shaving foam/dye tip makes for some beautiful prints). I hope everything goes well in Scotland with this upcoming vote but, regardless, I get the feeling you’ll make the most of it because you are clearly an amazing person.
