Hello, thank you for visiting my blog.  I set it up in March 2013, half way through my first year of a four-year Batchelor of Music (BMus) Vocal performance degree, as a log of my journey through training to become a classical singer.

The academic study of the history of music was a large part of my course, along with historical context, composition, piano to name just a few and writing better essays was a target of mine during my second year 2013/14. I have to write about how music impacts on society and learn how to make a living out of perfecting my vocal skills as being on a stage singing and performing is my passion.

I graduated with First Class Honours from The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS) 2016.  This course gave me the opportunity to do what I love every day. The RCS most importantly equipped me with learning techniques so that I could go away and apply that to self-tuition to really stretch myself as a musician, for example: in my third year, I learnt a full eight-song cycle ‘Haugtussa’ in Norwegian as preparation for the Grieg International Workshop in May 2015. I used the research I did to prepare and participate in this event and to write my final dissertation on the use of original languages in performance.

In September 2016 I continue my education at The Royal College of Music in London on their Master of Music course for two years.

I have read other blogs of varying genres to fuel my imagination and learn more about the world around me, I find encouragement when reading your comments and thoughts , so a warm welcome to you and I hope you enjoy my musings on the life of a trainee soprano.

My website and social media links can be found here

Best wishes,

Charlotte ☺️

Thanks for following Envisioning the American Dream- I look forward to reading your posts

I’m listening to some of your performances – amazing voice.

Hi Charlotte, thanks so much for following my blog. You are an extremely talented woman!

Thank you for following my blog. Your blog is outstanding and your voice is beautiful. Great writing on the Winter Solstice. I write children’s fairy tales, and believe in all things unseen. While observing your blog, a new story is developing. It is about a beautiful young singer with a mysterious past, who is actually a princess from a time long ago.
Have a Happy New Year. May all your dreams come true.

Just saw your performance and I find it amazing! I wish you the best of luck.

    Hello Charlotte,
I started listening to your music when you added me on Google+ last summer.
I never used to like opera at all and I wanted you to know that I now enjoy it because of your singing!
You have such a beautiful voice and your singing inspires me to excel at my instrument (piano).
    Thank you!

Thank you for dropping by and following Malcolm’s Corner.

Greetings, Charlotte, and thank you for following my blog. I’m honored. It’s such a joy–and an inspiration– to hear of your determination to be a great singer. I wish you the very best.

Hi Charlotte. WordPress somehow lost some of the blogs I follow, so I’m refollowing. Thanks!

The link to the Llangollan performance isn’t working.

Thanks for the follow! I was just thinking about you the other day. When I dropped off the Internet and deleted my old blog I lost all my followers, contacts, etc. One by one I’ve been getting some of them back but I had no idea how to find you. I couldn’t recall how to spell your name!

Anyway, I hope your singing career has progressed! I will be sure to longer on your blog a bit and see if I can “catch up” with you.

It is so good to see you!

Thanks for taking a look at my blog. πŸ™‚

That Bitter Voice November 6, 2015 at 10:24 pm

After writing for and deleting several blogs, now opting for a comment-less and ‘like’-less public journal rather than a blog, I’ve only rarely been able to discover why people decide to follow what I write or ‘like’ it. Sometimes even asking after it has received incredibly aggressive responses. I wondered about why you would follow after it but this about page sums it up nicely at the end. If you find anything I write to be of particular interest feel free to send me an e-mail, listed on my own about page, as it allows for a freer hand in discussion than WordPress’s comment system.

Thank you so much for finding my blog and following me πŸ™‚

Thanks for the follow, you’re the first opera singer I’ve ever followed, cool!

Thank you for stopping by my blog ! Lovely blog, Gorgeous photos!

You have a fantastic voice, Charlotte, and I can’t see how you could fail at reaching the very top of your profession. Your blog looks amazing, too, and incredibly popular. I’ve just read your last post about the Dickens Museum in London. Wonderful. I’ll hop back and comment on it now. πŸ™‚

Welcome aboard, Charlotte, it’s great to meet you. You’re on such an exciting journey … thank you for introducing us to your blog.
    Best wishes,
    Miles and Pippa

You’re beautiful and you have an amazing voice. I wish you to be healthy so that you can enjoy these wonderful gifts.

Lovely to cross virtual paths with you Charlotte. Thanks for following my blog, now I am following yours. I just might add; “read an opera blog entry daily” to my DIY curriculum at MAWL The Mott Academy of Writing Librettos.

It’s good to know what the experience of opera singers are. As I write, it’s not only for the composers whom I need to inspire to compose but also for the performers who will take my words and bring them to life. There is much to learn. I like your approach and intend to check back on this web log often.

May you go from strength to strength.

Looking forward to more of your clips, recital and competition plans. Any NYC travel plans? Brava, Jean
