A Heartfelt Performance: Sharing “Never Enough” with You

Today, I’m thrilled to share something very personal and special with you all—a video recording of me singing “Never Enough” from the sensational musical, The Greatest Showman. This song, powerful and poignant, holds a very dear place in my heart, particularly because it’s one of my Dad’s favourite songs from the world of musical theatre.

The idea to record this song came about one quiet evening at home, reminiscing with my family about our favourite musical moments. As we shared stories about all the musicals we have watched together over the years as a family, my Dad mentioned how “Never Enough” always seemed to stir a profound sense of aspiration and longing in him. Inspired by his love for the song, I decided to create this recording as a gift to him, to bring a piece of our cherished musical memories into his living room.

Recording “Never Enough” was an emotional journey for me. The song’s themes of yearning and desire for something just out of reach resonate with so many of us. As a performer, tapping into such raw emotion requires vulnerability and a deep connection to the music. I chose a simple setting for the recording, allowing the song’s powerful lyrics and melody to take centre stage, hoping to capture the essence that my Dad so admired.

I am so excited to share this video with you, my extended family of readers and music lovers. This song, this performance, is a reminder of why I cherish musical theatre so much—it’s about connecting, feeling, and living the stories that music tells us.

    1. Thank you, when I ask him what he wants he always says he doesn’t need anything, I usually resort to shirts, ties or socks so I thought this would be a little different for him and he loved it.

    I love this song, ever though I don’t recall ever having heard it before.
    I was exhilarated listening to to it and I thought my heart was going to pop out of my chest at the end!

    1. Actually I’m really happy you noticed our planned matching attire 😜 we often co-ordinate. I wore Midnight Nightingale last night, I had lots of lovely compliments, one of the ladies couldn’t believe that you’d sewed it all by hand. It glittered beautifully under the lights and I felt fabulous in it. By the way the stretch material on the back was fantastic for lung expansion.

Thank you Sheila, my parents were both at my concert last night with the choir and when Maurice did a little introduction saying how long he’d known me and seen me grow from a twelve year old competing in my first music festival where Maurice was a volunteer who helped guide singers and their families between classes and made sure no one opened the door or disturbed the candidates until between the songs to watching me live on stage at the Royal Northern as Pandora and at the Llangollen Eistedfodd, I glanced over at my Mum and she was nearly in tears so I had to look away as I was about to sing.

    1. He was so happy I learnt his favourite song. It needs some more work especially at the lowest range which is always tricky for me now especially without a microphone. If I spend a bit of time on it I may be able to include it in some of my concerts.

My Dad really enjoys the film and I love all the colour, great songs, it teaches you to follow your dreams but it is also realistic about how much effort and time it takes and what can be achieved, he builds it up, loses it all and has to start again.
