I started to feel a little better today and as a result my Mum saw that I was getting a little stir crazy, after all what does a girl do when she can’t sing 🙂 I looked around my bedroom and found my old “Hannah Montana” storage box and I thought that I could give it a little make-over. We had some paint left over from decorating the lounge and Mum found some paper that we use for carding and we agreed that I should use “collage pauge” to transform the old box.
The technique involves tearing paper and coloured tissue into small irregular pieces and then glueing them onto the item to be decorated. You build up the layers of paper one piece at a time and watch it transform as you do it 🙂
I sanded down the box to roughen up the surface to allow the paint to stick to the surface a little easier.
Then I painted the box with the old emulsion paint and let it dry. Whilst the paint dried I took the chance to tear up the paper and sort it into little stacks ready for glueing.
I then built up the layers one piece at a time. This is the fun bit seeing the colours and patterns take shape and bring new life to something old.
Once I finished the sides and back I thought that I had better check the draws still fitted 🙂
I have some pink glitter paper left from my flat wall and I just might use them on the front of the draws, what do you think ?
That looks like it was fun to do! And the box is beautiful! 🙂
It was fun, I even enjoyed peeling the glue off my fingers afterwards 😉

All the best for you my Dear
Did I miss something? What happened to your voice? I hope it heals quickly! You were born to sing (amongst other things!). Nice box, I’ll try to refurbish one of mine using your techniques. Thanks for sharing, feel better soon.
Tonsillitis with an abscess but I’m on the mend now. Hoping to be able to go out by Wednesday 😉

Aww! Feel better soon!
It is your decision, but I like the box the way it is now, without glitter.
Me too, and I’m worried if I put glitter paper on the draws and use them a lot it might peel off, the old draw covers do go quite well.
All the best
Charlotte
It looks beautiful, Charlotte! You’re so creative. Hope you’re back to singing very soon.
Thanks Deanie, I do love arts and crafts and I listen to new music whilst I work. It’s Dads birthday this week so I’ll be singing Happy Birthday to him if nothing else 😉

Aww it’s really great that you are still inspired to do something with your time when most people would feel down about what you have gone through! Keep up the recovery! Look forwards to reading more!
I do this to stop getting down, it’s easy when my family are all around but today when they were at work and college it’s seemed like a long day.

Great idea! Glad you’re feeling better.
Hi Renee it’s been a very frustrating week, for the past couple of days I’m ready to fly out. I’m on my own most of the day but can’t concentrate for long enough on complicated work I want to do :/. At least my throat is feeling much better.

I prefer this Miley makeover to the real one 🙂 It’s a lovely colour combination. You could use the glitter paper just for the edges of the box or a thin strip on the top of the drawers. Just be careful with glitter, it’s a slippery slope to tacky 🙂 Wishing you well!
I slipped down the glitter slope a long while ago lol. Strips would work well and you’ve given me a good idea to cut them out with Mums big shot to get a decorative finish.

Glad to see you’re feeling better, but Oh Lord what next, papier mache? 😀 Have a happy Christmas. P.S. You could practice with a tin whistle, you know.
Ooh good idea that’s a skill I can do, now to find a balloon and tissue paper lol. I’ve been practising some piano this morning it would have been so much easier if my second instrument had been a tin whistle or harmonica.

That’s so beautiful and creative.

Hi Gill, sure that sounds good, see you Friday 😉

Charlotte
Well done! And I’m glad to see that you’re feeling better.
Given Hannah Montana’s later career, it is perhaps just as well to paper her over.
Hi Dan, laugh out loud 😉
My family say I’m almost back to normal because I’m getting hyper. I must have disturbed Mum at least ten times at work today.
I’m just watching old performance DVDs with Mum and Dad, some are cringey and some are fab and it’s cool to see my progression.
All the best

You continue to inspire our staff with your talent. Should fate and destiny bring you Stateside one day, we hope to see you perform in the St Louis area. God Bless!
How lovely what a lovely message ;). I’ll hold you to that if I get to St Louis.

Merry Christmas to you and your family 🙂

Charlotte Hoather, you’re an incredibly talented singer! Wow… I heard a piece (can’t say I understood it) but hey, who needs to understand when you can feel the emotion and listen to the splendid voice! That doesn’t come easy… Gee, ages ago for just under two years I worked towards learning classical music – not Western though – and I just barely picked up a bit. It’s very hard work. I do enjoy music, any kind… also watch opera occasionally. Listening to you was a treat! Thank you. Oh, and I almost forgot why I’m here – to say ‘thank you’ for stopping by on my page (to mosey?) and hitting the star to ‘like’ my post. I appreciate it. All the best with your training.
