Twelve Days of Christmas – Day 11

January 4, 2014 — 63 Comments

With my boiler working again I started to unpack with my Mum and tried and get my flat looking straight again for the new term. Β Finding proper homes for all my most important things took a little re-organising but it is looking loads better this evening.

I always knew where I wanted to film today’s verse, right opposite the RCS is the National Piping Centre for Scotland and I thought that it would be just perfect.

We walked over to the centre just after lunch as there was a break in the weather and as we walked down the steps opposite the centre I could see that the centre was closed πŸ™

The National Piping Centre, Glasgow

We tried several times during the afternoon but there was no sign of the centre opening at all. Β I talked it through with my Dad and we decided to go back after dark and film outside on the steps.

As we walked back towards the centre it was still bathed in darkness but literally as we arrived on the steps outside all the lights went on inside and someone opened the doors πŸ™‚

We went inside to try and persuade them to let us film inside but there was a wedding on and the bride and guests were due any minute but if we were quick we could film on the steps, Β All the staff on duty wanted to get involved and I asked them to get together for a picture πŸ™‚

We went outside and filmed today’s verse and finished by taking some pictures of the centre.

So here it is “Eleven Pipers Piping”

We have pipe bands too, one that used to play at the band tattoo. Looking forward to tomorrow’s post.

Beautiful pictures, Charlotte. I love your posts, as well. The Twelve Days of Christmas you created are awesome. Congratulations on a job well done!

    Cool pipers. Fitting background.

      Wasn’t it just πŸ˜‰
When I realised I’d be back in Glasgow on the 11th day I knew immediately where I’d be tapeing. Today is going to be very random I haven’t got a clue yet! Lol
      Best wishes

It’s great. And I love your mantle with this beautiful “fresco” …. I hope to find a stylist who would do the same with my creations. Good weekend, my regards to your parents. Smiles provence.

I can’t wait to see you top this one tomorrow. Thank you for combining your singing, your art and the beautiful architecture.

I think that’s what is lovely about being a newcomer to Glasgow I lots of beautiful architecture and new sites all the time, you sort of take things for granted near home, Chester in Cheshire is beautiful and unique too. Thanks for watching my project progress Colleen πŸ˜‰
      All the best

Great sad that they couldn’t let you record a 30 second video inside. Alas, the enjoyment is in the performer, not the set.

Always good to have a great set πŸ˜‰ my room mate is a set designer, he works really hard and puts his heart and soul into his scenery, he was exhausted before the Christmas break working all hours to get the set perfect for the pantomime. It makes me very aware and grateful for the people back stage.
      Best wishes

How fun! Isn’t it amazing how circumstances sometimes give us something even greater than what we had planned. I love how the staff wanted to be involved. I love your singing. I love your art! I really love your art! Looking forward to tomorrow! πŸ™‚

Hi Deborah, I love stumbling into circumstances like this, the staff were lovely its a great venue. I must find out if I could have my 21st party there in November it would be great to have a ceilidh. The staff were lovely, I bet the wedding party was great.
      Best wishes

How lovely! Can’t wait to see your post tomorrow.

As soon as I’ve finished catching up on my blog I’m drawing my picture for today, I did one every day rather than trying to do several at a time.
My parents are putting up shelves, cleaning! And have even washed my windows before they go back home so I offered to cook Sunday dinner but we’re going out for a roast apparently so that’ll be good πŸ˜‰
      Best wishes

A museum for the pipes. Only a dedicated musician with a plethora of tastes would visit and write a intriguing blob entry about them. Kudos.

As usual the art is impressive and your music even more so.

    All the best,

It’s hard to top the piping centre for today’s finale, in the summer there are drummers busking in Glasgow and a marching band with drummers, I guess it’s too much to hope they’re there today! It’s quite wet today too :/. I’d love to sing some Scottish songs with a group of pipers.
It’s cool you’re enjoying the art too I’ve not been drawing for a while and it makes me peacefully happy to do it. I think I’ll carry on illustrating my reflection journal when the mood takes me πŸ˜‰
Hope you’ve had a good time over Christmas and New Year?
      Best wishes

Your voice is lovely. Hopefully, the tape can be edited to eliminate background noise before final production. Sounds as if you filmed near a traffic circle for Day 11. If the bride and groom had met you, I’m sure they would have asked you inside to perform for them and their guests.

I do sing at weddings πŸ˜‰ it’s so romantic and lovely. Quite stressful for the wedding singer though you don’t want to mess up on someone’s big day πŸ˜‰
      Best wishes

    Miss Charlotte:

Daily raising the bar!!! Love the Bag Pipes and who knew how creative you were going to be when you set out on this superlative endeavor? Each performance, with accompanying artwork, has been a thoughtful, wonderful, inspiring gift. Looking, so very much, forward to tomorrow’s offering.

    God Bless you and yours,

I wish I could send you all a copy now, but I promised a one off complete set at the start πŸ˜‰
My next task will be putting all the commenters names in a selector! Mum said she’d type them in for me she’s really fast so that’s good.
      Best wishes

This was lovely, Charlotte! Looking forward to the 12th! You have done a beautiful job of all days and your drawings are very artistic and well done. You are truly multi-talented!

Happy New Year to you Charlotte.

Thanks for sharing your info. I truly appreciate your efforts and I will be waiting for your further write ups thank you once again.

FABULOUS. We learnt this song in school when I was about 6. We made all the characters out of sticky paper ( the sort you had to lick) The pipers all had little piccolo type pipes and since then I have always imagined them thus. so happy to have a new ‘take’ on the pipers. Will miss this little adventure so much Charlotte. Have LOVED IT. xxxxxxxx

    What a stunning looking building.
One more to go and glad you got through the night without the oiler.
    Keep smiling

I enjoyed the story of how you put this video together, and am looking forward to the next one.

It’s great! But I do wish you would have done the little 12-days dance you did in some of the other posts – I’m sure the staff would have loved it..

Looking forward to the big finale.

Fantastic love it! Keeping my fingers crossed for my name to come out of the selector. Xxxxx

Still luvvin’ this mini series πŸ™‚

Wow, you go to a lot of trouble to carry out your plans. I’m so impressed.

Asking questions are actually nice thing if you are not understanding something fully, however this article presents good understanding even.

What’s up, yeah this paragraph is really nice and I have learned lot of things from it about blogging. thanks.

It’s awesome for me to have a site, which is beneficial in favor of my know-how. thanks admin

You definitely couldn’t have picked a more appropriate location. πŸ™‚

What a neat Center. Your tartan plaid above reminds of what I think may be my colors. I’ve just been doing my genealogy and have tracked to a couple of clans! How fun! Love the bagpipes and your drawing depicts them wonderfully! πŸ™‚

I wore my most colourful coat but it isn’t tartan πŸ˜‰
I believe tartan is hot fashion this year so I’m going to be looking out for the perfect outfit
      best wishes

Great! Thank you. …five golden rings… always wonderful. πŸ™‚ Ken
