10 Days And Counting

RCS La Rondine Poster

I can only manage a short post tonight but I am having a fabulous time in rehearsals for both “La Rondine” and “Mahler Symphony No 8 – Symphony Of A Thousand”.  The only problem is that I have used up my 3G allowance and it is really difficult to keep in contact with everyone when I’m not in a free wifi area or at home, which hasn’t been very often 🙂 .

This will be my first time on stage in the chorus of an opera and I am so excited about being involved.  I have only been involved with the RCS tech support helping out with the surtitles.

There are still some tickets left here if you are quick 🙂

Here is a selfie that I took this afternoon today in the dressing rooms for “La Rondine”, I just love my outfit but it is still under wraps 🙂

RSNO

Then tonight I was in rehearsals with the RSNO as part of the RCS choir that will be joining them for their season finale which promises to be a fantastic evening for those that manage to get tickets.

    1. 100% is the only option Bill, I listened to Joyce DiDonato on BBC Radio 3’s podcast in my break on Thursday and she said slow and steady wins the race, well steady and dependable I am and I know this is a long road but these little milestones I can tick off along the way feel just brilliant.

      1. Well, you know what Hamlet said? “To hat or not to hat, that is the question.” ‘Course I have no hair, so everyday is a no hair day for me.

  1. Have a wonderful time! There is nothing quite like performing with a full orchestra and chorus! Llangollen International Festival is fabulous. I went with my school choir in 1976(!!!) and we came first in both our events. The atmosphere is so exciting and you see so many different groups from around the world. I remember being chatted up by a Turkish Sabre Dancer!

    1. What a fabulous memory of a great achievement Clare, I went for the very first time last year, encouraged by my Dad who grew up in Dinas Dinlle near Caernarfon and remembered the festival. I didn’t win but the atmosphere was fabulous and my Nana and I had a great time. A Turkish Sabre Dancer hmmm 😉

  2. What an absolutely thrilling time! There is nothing quite like the excitement of being part of some big production. I will be enjoying it vicariously from afar. Have a great time!

  3. You’ve got a lot going on! I’m sure you will sparkle and I wish I could see it. I’m sure you’ll post some bits here and there. Have a great time, Charlotte!

    1. Cheers Dylan, rehearsals are going well, the soloists are in fine voice and I’ve even enjoyed the backstage, hair and make-up rehearsals. I’m easy to please.

  5. O Charlotte, I’m so thrilled for you. You are such a hard worker and such a credit to yourself. Wishing you lots and lots of fun! (ps I’ve tried listening to your radio interview from the weekend but either I’m unable to because of my location or I’m doing something silly with the laptop, LOL)

    1. I’ve been having a lie in the last few mornings; luckily lessons didn’t start until 10am. I hope that you got it to work eventually, I was a little bit formal and not as relaxed as I am naturally to start but I warmed up as it went along, a great experience.

    1. Hi Arti, I will think of all of my blog friends when i walk out on stage on opening night, you will be all there with me 🙂

It has been wonderful to share the last year with everyone and this is just the next one of my baby steps.

    1. Thank you Hilary, I finished your fabulous book ‘Unseen Unsung’ by the way, I absolutely loved the whole story, so in tune with me, I feel like I know Luke. It would make a great opera, shame your central character wasn’t a female soprano 😉 have you thought of creating a sequel?
