It has been two years since I first decided to start my blog and record the experiences and opportunities that I would face as a student here at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. So here I am 230 posts later and to everyone that has joined me here, supported my endeavours, shared in my experiences and provided invaluable advice I just want to say thank you.

I just love this time of year as all the rehearsals are coming to fruition and the performance dates are just around the corner.
On the 17th April at 7:30 pm I will be taking part with my fellow students at the RCS in our chamber choir, conducted again this year by Frikki Walker at St Mary’s Cathedral, Glasgow.

The following day I am very excited that my family and friends will be traveling to Glasgow to see me take part in the Scottish Opera Connect production of Jonathan Dove’s opera “The Walk From The Garden”. This will be my first lead role playing Eve alongside a fellow student from the RCS, Glen Cunningham who will be performing the role of Adam. The dates of the performances are 18th April 3:30 pm and 7:00 pm and 19th April at 3:30 pm. This opera is part of a double bill, the second production is “Dr Ferret’s Bad Medicine Roadshow” which was inspired by “The Cautionary Tales” by Hilaire Belloc.

As a member of Les Sirenes Female Chamber choir we have been working on Mendelssohn’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” for a performance with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra on Thursday 14th May at the City Halls Glasgow.

Then as the end of the academic year draws to a close I will be performing as a member of the chorus in the RCS production of Vaughan Williams’s opera “Sir John In Love”. With shows on the 9th, 11th, 13th and 15th May starting at 7:15 pm.

  6. okay, still not convinced of opera….sue me, you sing good 0 yet not my way, good , i do give you that and you are rare are a very pretty one. you can charm me still. 🙂 and I am very happy you made your marks on the world. I will promise you I will look for what I want in lessors technical brilliance. promise. 🙂 hug. I mean I like lcetera chicago. not a soprano’s ease to be a tenor’s voice…. but if you’ll forgive e me a lack of the fullest tastes of of your craft. god, you sing! happy second…. laugh as that means i want some guy to sing to me and I’m not gay like that is some kind of sin. ;0)

      1. come to see you, well that’s where you have it made in the shade. first you probably heard of the west highland way?/walk? color flip photography because sometimes it rains or its otherwise not as pretty scottland and did I mention you appear to be scottland./ you’ve little to no reason at all to worry when you say you musssst viissssssiiit sttaaarmaaan… that there is some chance I’d want to even before you say scotch is from scotland star man. lol you’ve a chance.

  7. We just had you singing The Song of the Moon and Schubert in our home stereo. Bravo! Bravo! My husband, Dr. Opera was yapping to me about Cecilia Bartoli when I told him he should listen to my bloggng friend Charlotte. He went to his office to listen and was there a long time so I knew he was liking what he was hearing. Eventually he put you on the house stereo system. Simply divine! We are both quite impressed with your voice and your talent. Promise when you become a famous diva, that you stay nice like Beverly Sills!

  9. Congratulations, fellow blogger! I know just how difficult it is to keep a blog up—on top of being a music student. I always enjoy reading about your experiences and musical discoveries as you move along your career path. I only wish that I had the opportunity to hear you perform live, because I really enjoy what you have posted.

    1. It was a new opera for me too Rod, I had to do my research, enjoying rehearsals, I get to dance too which is fabulous although I must admit it was easier when I was dancing at least ten hours a week my bodies creaking 😄.

    1. Thank you Joe, I have a lot of theory and history of music lessons and I want to improve my academic essay writing that’s my latest target. There’s so many different facets to this degree that sometimes it leaves me spinning as standards are so high at the RCS to achieve good grades.

  26. Very cool! Sometimes I feel like the late comer to the party (I think you had some insane amount of followers by the time I joined in) but the more the merrier and I have enjoyed chatting.

    You know, I always find the back story behind a blog to be interesting. Something triggers it. An experience, a journey, a passion or heart break. But when done right…the experience can be far rewarding than what we imagined.

Thanks Steve, when I started writing it was to help me improve my writing and to reflect and keep a diary of my time at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, I can honestly say I never expected to meet so many amazing people with which to share this amazing experience.   34. Congratulations, Charlotte! I don’t know how you’ve managed 230 posts–its as much as I can do to write a dozen for mine in two years–if that many! And all the best for your upcoming performances–I remember how euphoric I was over my first lead as Princess Ida, and I’m sure playing Eve feels the same way for you.

      1. Howdy Hi. Not recovered yet. Didn’t have enough funds to see the doctor a couple days ago. But found out that the venom from the bark scorpion can be deadly so..no wonder I’ve felt lousy..
