Happy New Year For 2017

Happy New Year! I hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas or winter festive period, and that the New Year brings you success, happiness and good health.

Over the past few days I have been so grateful for the fabulous time that I have shared with my family and friends, the delicious food and sublime cakes and I now feel like a happy hamster who has stuffed her cheeks full for the upcoming months (especially on a looming student budget). I feel revived and refreshed for the challenges ahead and I can’t wait to get stuck in and share my next experiences with you.

College starts up again on Tuesday 3rd of January with rehearsals for the upcoming Opera Scene Showcases. I am really excited to have been selected for two scenes! I will be performing the role of Flora in a scene from ‘The Turn of the Screw’ by Benjamin Britten on the 27th January 2017. Then on 3rd February 2017 I’ll be performing the role of Zerlina alongside my dear friend Christian Adolph, playing Don Giovanni in a scene from Mozart’s “Don Giovanni”. Both performances will be included in an evening of opera scenes performed by students of the RCM International Opera School which start at 5:30pm in the Britten Theatre at the RCM. The events are ticketed but they are free to the public, so if you are in the area it would be lovely to perform to some friendly faces.

I would love to hear what you are looking forward to in the new year! Whether you are planning a trip away or contemplating trying something new. Thank you so much for all your support last year and for taking the time to enjoy this adventure with me.

    1. I love talking to everyone I meet at this time of year, people are much friendlier and start up conversations in lifts, or waiting in a queue, we need more of this in 2017 😊
Best wishes to you Annette ✨

  1. A very Happy and Successful 2017 to you Charlotte! The only thing we have organised for this year is a holiday in Switzerland in July. We hope to improve the house and garden a little more but have made no other plans.

  4. Happy New Year, Charlotte.

I noticed you carrying the Red Shoes programme: if you haven’t already, take time to watch the original film with Moira Shearer, made by my favourite British film producers, Powell and Pressburger. Seventy years old, but a stunning gem.

    1. Happy New Year Martin,
I will have to make time to watch the film, I loved this production. I sometimes get to watch a film on the train if I can download it.
      Best wishes

  5. Hope it will be a great year for you, and that the performances go off well. Just took it easy over the past while not even posting anything on the internet, as was worn out, but the New Year is always exiting. Have been to Sadlers Wells often seeing many wonderful productions, including, modern dance, ballet and opera. I love this venue as well, even if it is a bit off the beaten track. Best wishes and blessings, Charles.

    1. Thanks Charles, rehearsals are underway and started well. Sometimes it’s good just to take a break.
It’s a great theatre very cosy for quite a big space. I’m learning my way around quite well now.
      Best wishes

      1. It only takes a short time to learn ones way around most of western London, the South centre for the arts is well worth a visit with the Royal festival hall, the Queens hall, the Purcell rooms, the national theatre complex, the national film institute, an art gallery, the national poetry library, and the second hand book tables in front of the film place. I have attended opera at all of these venues, plus lots of other things, including poetry readings. Some where relaxing is the Royal botanic gardens at Kew, I often caught the tube to Richmond, then walked on the Thames foot path back to Kew, and had a tea there, and looked at the plants. The Barbican, has some very good musical offerings as well.

  6. Charlotte what wonderful photos and fun times that you have had during your break.
Happy New Year to you and yours. Can’t wait to follow your blog in 2017, Darlene

  7. Lovely photos, Charlotte. Thank you for sharing. Happy New Year! May you have a wonderful year ahead with joy, love and prosperity! ❀️ Hugs!

    1. Thanks Cheryl Happy New Year.
My Dad drove us to London, it was nice to just sit and relax, we had a good quick journey too. Tomorrow we have a tube underground strike, my first one whilst I’ve been in London and I’ve got to travel 8-9 miles I’ve been told to give it two hours on the buses! 😳.

  8. Happy New Year! Wishing you the best of luck with your upcoming performances. Looks like you had a lovely Christmas time with your family–so did we! And congratulations on having a pub named after you :).

    Best regards,

    Cate
