Happy Easter and Joyous Passover to one and all

Happy Easter and Joyous Passover one and all. I hope that in spite of the quarantine situation you all managed to find creative ways to enjoy this long weekend and the beautiful weather that came with it.

At the moment, I am so thankful for technology and for being able to video call my loved ones. On Good Friday, George and I performed another Balcony Concert, which now is slowly turning into a series! It is nice to experiment with live streaming as it means my friends from all over the world can become part of our small community whilst we perform, and our neighbours in our block who don’t face into the same courtyard can still enjoy the show safely. Thank you for supporting us and we hope you enjoy watching our next performance on Friday 17th April which will be Balcony Concert #4

After the performance, I was able to FaceTime with my close family despite the huge distances between us and a enjoy a Disney themed karaoke and compete against each other in a friendly pub style quiz.

On Saturday I dedicated the day to arts and crafts. I spent time calling my good friend Emily, and whilst we spoke we enjoyed drawing exotic animals such as frogs and geckos, (who doesn’t love a challenge).

Then after lunch, I painted empty eggshells with my close friend Rebecca, who is a fantastic artist. I’ve not done this for a few years and it was good to revisit childhood memories and see if I could remember how to blow out an egg. In the evening, over zoom, I played a board game with my brother Matt, his husband Alex, and George, where we had to complete a stained glass window. All in all a great time was had.

What have you been doing recently? Any fun indoor activities to share?

For those of you who may have missed our performance last Friday I have included the link below.  George’s Mum suggested this week that we include a few songs for the children in our block, which seemed like a great idea at the time. It wasn’t until we walked out on to the balcony that it struck me how long it had been since I last sung any of them 😊

Repertoire this week:

Do Re Mi – from the Sound of Music

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious – from Mary Poppins

Part Of Your World – from The Little Mermaid

Now Sleeps The Crimson Petal – Roger Quilter

Quando M’en Vo – Puccini

Je Veux Vivre – Gounod

    1. Happy Easter Cindy, I am so glad that you enjoyed our music-making. The little girl was so sweet and it gave me wonderful energy during the concert to see her enthused.

  2. I love these balcony concerts, Charlotte! They are wonderful to listen to and are very uplifting!

Mostly we are working outside right now, clearing brush and mowing the back lot before the grass gets too high back there. Nature is bursting forth in all her vigorous glory and it is a real struggle to keep up with her.

    1. Happy Easter Lavinia, I am really happy that you are enjoying our balcony concerts. I am enjoying the weekly goal of performing and they are keeping George and I happy and focused.

Good luck with your efforts to keep up with Nature! I have been really enjoying watching our house plants grown – it gives me inspiration whilst I am indoors.

  3. The artists in you stay busy! I’ve never painted Easter eggs but dyed a few with my kids when they were little. Since we have 4 acres we can get outside – frankly I NEED to send my husband outside – he needs some space. I hope you are not going stir crazy but love what you two are doing!

    1. I enjoy keeping busy Noelle, even though I love to watch movies and TV shows. Practicing and blogging are helping me to navigate this time positively. I haven’t tried dying eggs before – that is certainly something new to explore.

You make me chuckle, the thought of sending George out to the balcony sounds fun with a hint of wickedness 😉 ! It’s important to have a little me time!

  4. The artwork and painted eggs are outstanding and very heartwarming. Beautiful balcony concert. The young lady dancing in the courtyard was adorable. Happy Easter.

    1. Hello Timothy, I really enjoyed the crafty day – it was fun to just create and enjoy some time with my friends. The young girl is so sweet, I enjoyed her dancing too! We also have a neighbour directly above us, whose little girl was standing on a chair poking her head out of the window, watched and held carefully by her Dad. Children bring oodles of energy and positivity.

  7. I love the new artwork by you and your friends–heart waming, as Timothy says, above. Very talented, all of you!

I’ve saved the performances for last.

I spent some time designing a cover for my next book, The Guardienne. I also started writing the interior content last night. I uploaded my dystopian novel, A True Map of the City, in Kindle format to Amazon. I must get Tenirax off the back burner and finish it, too.

    1. We had so much fun creating the art together over a facetime call, I am so glad that you liked our creations. I hope you enjoy the music.
You have been so productive, that is wonderful!! Congratulations on releasing your book and creating the art cover for another. Tenirax sounds like a wonderful title!

  9. Well one “fun activity” Petronela and I enjoyed was a ‘pillow’ fight but, confined to our flat for at least 12 weeks our daily walk has been 50 times back and forth across our living room – that’s 1km. As you say, thank goodness for today’s technology (I never thought I’d say that!) which, eg, has allowed our writers’ club to continue ‘meetings’ via Messenger video chat. And how great it is to wake to the dawn chorus through the open window uninterrupted by frequent passing cars!
We do not celebrate Easter until next Sunday (19th) so at the moment we are still in Lent, so we’ll be substituting red eggs for pillows at Sunday breakfast, accompanied by the ‘greeting’ “Hristos a Înviat!”. George has no doubt taught you the response!
What a wonderful Easter you had despite all! And thank you for all the music.
    Cu drag, R&P x

    1. Buna Roger! Paste Fericit! I know the died red eggs well and it is such a fun tradition. April is a happy month for us! As we celebrate both Easters, and on the 23rd it is St George’s Day, where we celebrate George’s saint name’s day and the patron saint of England. It is fun to share some similarities across both cultures.

A Pillow Fight, what a delightful, smile-inducing activity. What a brilliant idea to measure your living room so you know how far to walk and create a healthy routine! I shall pass this idea on to my family.

I am so pleased to read that your writers group can continue over video chat – it is lovely to stay connected in this way! It is a joy to hear less traffic and more bird song I must admit.
