Mansfield Park – St Marylebone Festival

Jane Austen’s Mansfield Park is a timeless classic that has been adapted into various forms of art, including film and theatre. I had the pleasure of performing in Jonathan Dove’s operatic interpretation as part of the Waterperry Opera Festival in 2018 & 2019. But don’t worry if you missed it. The production is being revised and will feature as part of the St Marylebone Festival this year.

The opera will be performed on Saturday, 8th July at 17:00, at the beautiful St Marylebone Parish Church.

I will perform alongside a cast of 9 singers who will take you on a journey with their loveable characters and charming music featuring Ashley Beauchamp as Music Director. The production is directed by Rebecca Meltzer, who creates an intimate setting that will allow the audience to experience the production up close, making for a more memorable experience. If you’re an Austen lover or a music enthusiast, this is an event you won’t want to miss. Be sure to book your tickets now to secure your spot at the festival. Tickets are £30.00 per person and can be bought at the following this link:

    1. I really enjoy the show, the very first opera I did outside of college was a Jonathan Dove Opera called A Walk from the Garden, I played Eve with Scottish Opera. I like singing in English and the cast is just lovely to work with.

    1. I really wish you could attend the show too John, we need as much support as possible for opera in the UK, funding cuts and opportunity reductions make these festival companies more important than ever.

    1. Thanks John, I’ve got George’s Chloe festival first so I’ll be putting my memorising cap on.

    1. You’d love it Sheila, the opera in English in an immersive style so the audience feel they are in the drawing room with us and at time peeking at a scene. I loved working with Rebecca Meltzer and I’m looking forward to catching up with her again and Ashley Beauchamp the musical director its been a couple of years.

    1. Yes, I was happy to be asked back, I had already committed to the Brontë opera so couldn’t do the August run of the show sadly but it’s nice to reprise a role I enjoyed and the cast are fab.

    1. It’s quite a romantic opera and my husband played by Lawrence is very funny although I’m not very nice to him. Naughty Maria Bertram.

    1. 😊 if ever you need a reminder I’m on all the best music streaming sites. 😜 every 0.001p per listen helps hehe.

      1. Remember I was born in another century. The 19th or the 20th, not sure anymore. I don’t listen to music streaming. (I did buy your record though. Well, digital record…) 🎶

      2. Thank you, actually I’m better off if you download 🎶 💿 rather than stream, merci beaucoup.

  1. Charlotte, it’s wonderful to hear you are once again performing in “Mansfield Park”.
Many who follow your blog wish we could hear & see you perform. Alas, for me there is an ocean in the way.
My N says he will take me to Europe, but I still don’t feel comfortable travelling since Covid.

Anyway, you are busy with your career, and that is a wonderful thing.

Gown Update: I’ve been busy here, but have still managed to get in sewing time. There has been a slow progress, and it is adding up. I’m on the small tail off the back of the skirt. I’ve decided to line 14 ” in the centre back of it, so that has added time, but as I’ve decided to embellish the tip of the tail it will pay off.

By the end of next week, I could have an idea of how many hours to finish. I can usually judge when I’m about 30 hours away.
    Not much longer!!!!! Yahoo!
    Resa xx
