Brontë – Performance Week

We will hold the Sitzprobe for Lisa Logan’s new opera Brontë tonight. The Sitzprobe is our opportunity to run through the opera with the orchestra. It is always an exciting time as we get to see everything come together for the first time ahead of our first performance at the Arcola Theatre on Tuesday, 12th September 2023.

I wanted to share with you some short videos prepared by Lisa Logan which may give you a little insight in to the production.

There are still a few tickets left if you are able to join us at the Arcola Theatre, 24 Ashwin Street, London, E8 3DL. The performances will be at 7:30 pm on Tuesday 12th September 2023, Wednesday 13th September 2023, Friday 15th September 2023, and Saturday 16th September 2023.

    1. Thanks Mart, I’ve got a couple more photos to share tonight, I agree about the saying, I was climbing up on top of a table, I’m just pleased I didn’t fall off 😜.

  1. Good luck for this week. Are you an artist as well? A photo at the bottom of my screen shows you drawing or is that garden design? 🤗🙋‍♂️

    1. Thank you Ashley, yes I love to draw, I took Fine Art and textile design as extra classes as well as performing arts at school and I draw and paint to relax.

    1. Thank you Shehanne, it was very smart how the play write brought the characters to life as manifestations from the books.

    1. It was so lovely to see you and Edwin there, I really appreciate you coming such a long way. I was very well supported by friends and family all four nights. I’m so grateful for everyone that helps to keep these performances live on.

  2. Thanks for sharing the videos 🙂 I enjoyed hearing from the composer and conductor, but of course was more interested in yours. Anyway, good luck to you and the entire cast 🙂

    1. Thank you Lavinia, it certainly keeps taking lots of twists and turns. I enjoyed being Cathy and voicing the Jane Eyre character Bertha, who was played by a fabulous dancer Magdalena 💃 who has reignited my love of dance and introduced me to the flamenco style.

    1. Thank you Don. It was a lot of work outside the rehearsals this one because it was written a lot at the top of my register I enjoyed exploring that, the Queen of the Night aria isn’t so daunting now 😜.

  4. Greetings from Paris. I’ve had a lot of internet problems in the flat I’m renting, so I am a tad behind.
I just realise the show is over. How did it go? Wonderfully I imagine?
(Also very nice to hear you speak. So British! So many nuances that one is not accustomed to hear anymore.) (95% of the English I now hear is American. Which is fine, just different…)
    Au revoir

    1. Sorry to hear about your Internet, I don’t know what I’d do without it at the moment, so much going on. Several friends I’ve had from school came to see the show on opening night, then my brother and friends, next a wonderful singing coach of mine that helped me to hit the right notes, and finally my good friends, Hilary & Edwin who I met through this blog, Nino who I went to the Royal College of Music with and his partner and my parents who drove five hours to watch. It gives me so much energy to know they’re there.
When I speak to Americans I start to adopt an American twang, same with Italians, or French or George’s friends and family, I’m a mimic and I’m often unaware I’m doing it.

      1. Internet fixed. 😉
Sobglad about the show. Your family and friends are very supportive.
Accents? You necessarily have a musical ear. Which is why “unbeknowst” to you your speech adapts to what you hear.
I do too. With Americans i speak American. With Brits I become “posher than thou”. 😉 i don’t even realise it. Even happens to me in French with Swiss French accent.
        Fun
Be good dear. ‘Best regards from Paris
