Day 4 of my Italian adventure

mercatelelarge

Tuesday 18th,   we left the villa at 6pm and travelled into Mercatale and performed for a large crowd on the Piazza around 9:15pm, this is a change of pace for me because I’m normally an early bird and everything happens so late out here.  Singing on uneven cobbles was a challenge 🙂

mercateleseatedWe received bravis (loud and raucous applause).  One lucky elderly lady loved every second as she was serenaded by Jonathan Kennedy as she watched from her balcony, which created a fabulous atmosphere.  Everyone was up for a party when we got back to the villa, like I said this is a complete change of pace for me.

Wednesday 19th,   is a rest day, we are planning a five course pasta meal later.  I’m going to get a bit of sun but I’m so pale I have to be really careful, factor 50 lotion.  Time to learn some new lyrics for summer shows, I’ve decided I’m not very good at resting.

Tonight’s Menu:

Melon, Parma ham, and salami,
Canapés
Hot baguette toasted with peppered mince and tomato puree
A mysterious pate (possibly mushroom)
Cheese and potato ravioli and basil with an olive oil dressing.
Spinach and ricotta cannelloni
Flavoured lasagne type pasta

Plenty of vegetables to keep my parents happy  🙂

    1. Hi Diane, it is a wonderful place to visit and to just kick back and relax. I hope that you get a chance to visit Italy and sample the lifestyle for yourself.

  1. Enjoy the trip. I enjoyed your rendition of Britten’s “O Waly Waly”, by the way.

    Best wishes, John

    1. Hi Gerard, there certainly seems to be a great sense of community late into the evening. Back home most people are tucked up in their own homes by 10:00 pm, but maybe the weather has a part to play in that 🙂

  2. Hi Charlotte, Thank you for following our blog. We now follow you also, and we feel very fortunate to be doing so. You have a wonderful voice. Enjoy Italia!

    1. Hi there, thanks for dropping by and visiting with me. I am sat here busy doing nothing at the moment and it still feels like I should be doing something 🙂 I enjoyed reading through your site I bet the musicians have a great time at the events they perform at. I must try and see if I could get involved with a similar group over here in the UK. I am still very new at this and need to find ways to search out performance opportunities so that I can constantly improve my technique and repertoire.

Arrivederci from Italy and I hope you visit with me again soon

Oh, the meal plans are just tempting! Lovely reading about you people, and who is the woman in white, whose photo is on the right-hand-side of the post? It is beautiful! 🙂

    1. LOL That was me, didn’t you catch sight of my crutch hiding on the floor behind the bush. I couldn’t get around that easily on the large cobbles so I was glad of the seat 🙂

The food is lovely but sometimes I just dream about a home cooked Sunday dinner 🙂

Best wishes and arrivederci for now

      1. I’ve tried walking a little more with my boot off last night, but it swells up still if I do too much. I wish I was back to full fitness because I’m getting tired of it now! 🙁 I’ve been doing the exercises with my foot that a Physio gave me when I broke my foot. Fingers crossed it works soon.

        Best wishes

    1. Hi Ruth, we are all having a great time out here. Great weather, lovely food, wonderful friends and concerts to perform in 🙂

What more could I ask for, hope to see you back here again soon.

      1. Or as an Brooklyn Italiano I knew in the Coast Guard use to say: “A rivers dirty!” For years, that is what he thought his grandfather was saying to him. 🙂

      2. Laughs out loud 🙂 I sometimes wonder what people make of my accent and beginner Italian! Hope you get chance to visit again.

        Best wishes

The ‘bel paese’ can indeed be quite beautiful at times
    Buona lettura, always

    – Alexander Booth

    1. Hello Alexander, it truly is a beautiful Country. I wish I had more time and resources to explore it further. I would love to be fluent in Italian and admire your translation skills. I sing well-rehearsed Italian so that people watching expect me to be fluent and sadly I’m not 🙁

      Arrivederci a presto
      Charlotte.

    1. Hi Charmaine, thanks for referring me to your new site, I’ll check it out next week when I get back home. Thanks for stopping by, come back soon.

    1. Hi Hilary, I hope that one day, I’m performing close enough that you can come to see me sing outside and that it is on a beautiful sunny day 🙂

      Best wishes

    1. Hi Lee, Wow it does, it even has a bar like the real one in the Piazza that kindly allowed us to use their toilets during the evening 🙂

      Warmest wishes
