Into The Woods

My Dad created my website using Adobe Dreamweaver, he isn’t a website designer and works full time so it was a weekend project 🙂     He’s decided it’s not so easy to view on tablets and smartphones in the format he’s used so now he’s wanting to change it.  He is also concerned it is slow to load …..( very technical stuff, am I holding your interest?  Because my eyes started glazing over at this point of the conversation with my Dad this weekend, sorry Dad only joking 🙂    )

ITTWImage5

We took some new photographs to use on my blog, influenced by some of the lovely photography blogs I look at and have shown to him.  The weather was great so we trekked into Delamere Forest   in the Cheshire Plain, we have always loved Delamere Forest as a family and we even visit on Christmas Day for a walk around and usually a game of rounder’s using pine cones and sticks.   It was quite funny watching people’s faces as we pulled a wheely case into the forest containing a change of dresses and a large dust sheet to use as a changing room whilst I switched outfits.  We walked into a quiet clearing and set up camp.  My Mum spent the first fifteen minutes picking up litter, complaining to me about people leaving empty crisp packets and water bottles in such a beautiful place, she put them in a plastic bag and we took the rubbish home because we couldn’t find a bin in the car park.

ITTWImage4

I’ve used up all my business cards so we need to print some new ones too so I need to choose a picture, I also wanted to put my blog address on them.  Which photograph from this selection do you prefer, or do you think we should stick with this one?

Cards

Once selected I have to get my Dad to print off my cards as I have a concert tomorrow lunchtime at St Mary’s Church in Nantwich at 12:30 pm and then on Saturday 27th July at Tideswell Parish Church where I will be singing with the Tideswell Male Voice choir at 7:00 pm.

I enjoyed this post very much, Charlotte, and I loved #1,3,6, but they’re all beautiful photos of you! 🙂
    Lauren

  2.

Love the first picture, and the last one.

    •

Hi Joan, the last picture is one with my fairy book, I always believed fairies were real and whenever I lost a tooth I got a tiny, tiny typed letter off the tooth fairy telling me well done for looking after my teeth for building their castles 🙂

      All the best
      Charlotte

      •

Hi, that is funny, as my 7 year old grand-daughter, who lost her first tooth last week, also got a hand-written letter from the fairies, thanking her for the tooth, and mentioning the castles also!

  3.

🙂 Hi. I think the last one would be nice. The others are great too. ^^

  4.

    Beautiful! Very nice.

  5.

I like the one with the bouquet. Your hair is pretty, and the colors are stunning. It’s framed nicely, too, with the sunlight on the ferns behind you.

    •

Thank you Donna, I hope you’re feeling better now, my Nana was told by her GP to try to get more exercise so she took up swimming recently, she is a really early riser so went to the pool very early 7am and swam in the cold water, after a week her knees seized up and she’s been hobbling around, I told her she should have come to Zumba with me 🙂

      Best wishes
      Charlotte

  6.

My vote goes to the 3rd one from the top.

  7.

The one of you with the flowers is beautiful, but I love your dress in the first one. Best wishes.

    •

It was my Mum’s dress but she only wore it the once because she has to wear heels with it 😉 so she gave it to me and I’m going to put it to good use.

      Best wishes to you
      Charlotte

  8.

I like the third and the last one 🙂 beautiful pictures !

    •

Thanks Anna, did you get to the UK on your European tour? If not I have a blog follower who writes a great blog on texthistory http://texthistory.wordpress.com/. She left this gem of information on my site:

Barb Drummond July 8, 2013 at 11:22 am Hi Charlotte, thanks for the follow. Music is probably more important to Britain than anywhere else. When Henry VIII closed the monasteries, he ended arts patronage; only music continued, in part because it was something ordinary people could do, but also because Elizabeth loved to dance. During the civil war lots of fun things were banned; it seems this coincided with a surge in mental health problems and witch hunts – I blame this on the loss of celebrations, and music was of course a big part of this. It is no coincidence that Britain and the English speakiing world are so successful at music. It’s part entertainment, but also a survival stratetgy. Good luck with your studies.

Best wishes and success in your exams,
      Charlotte

      •

I’ve been to the UK last year, and I’m planning to go back this year.
The blog info is really interesting!
        Many thanks for your wishes!
        All best wishes to you,
        Anna

  9.

They’re all beautiful photos but I think my favorite is the third one.

  10.

What a charming blog. I think my favorite picture, for a business card is # 3. The one with a bouquet. I am so glad that you are following my blog. Thanks. I look forward to following you.

  11.

The website is awesome your dad is a wonderful designer! The original one is the best and if you really need to change, the one with the bouquet is the next best choice.

    •

Thanks Sastry my Dad will be happy when he reads your comments. I think I might just ask him to print both sets for cards for different occasions. Your photographs are lovely my Dad is talking about wanting all sorts of kit now for his birthday and Christmas this year he’s caught the photography bug 🙂

      All the best
      Charlotte

      •

Thanks Charlotte. Your dad should get a nice camera, he looks to be very creative and photography is one such hobby that satisfies the creative urge.

  12.

Your original or the last one are my faves. It looked like a wonderful day!

    •

Thank Koko, it was a lovely day, it started off badly, first of all my Dad had left his camera at work so he had to go and get it, then the camera battery was flat so we had to wait while it recharged, we intended to go near to the lake in the forest and Mum said it was left but Dad was sure it was right, oops we went right – should have been left! We soon got into the photo shoot though and all had a fab time.
I need to eat more greens – I might have to try out your veggie drink.

      Best wishes
      Charlotte

      •

Mom was right! hehehe; I got a chuckle out of that! My boys drink green shots that I make! Keep in mind any greens will work and toss in an apple can make the world of difference in some drinks. I will post more recipes of what I make to give you ideas but again I usually toss in what I have. Believe it or not spinach, carrots and a celery is very good too! Enjoy your evening. Koko

      •

Thanks fir the tip about using an apple as I would not have thought to do that. Do you add any extra fluids before you juice the vegetables or is there enough retained in the veg and fruit ?

        Best wishes
        Charlotte

      •

Oh thank you for asking…yes I usually add about a cup or more of water and some ice as my blender blends so fast it can actually make soup! My drink ends up being about 16 ounces of liquid. You will know if you need more water if your greens are not mixing well and is thick. I make a very large amount and usually fill it up again with more water through out the day. Hope this helps. And thank you again for bringing it to my attention…I will check back on my post to make sure I add “water”. Cheers! Koko

  13.

Your web page is marvelous your dad has done and wonderful job

  14.

Beautiful Charlotte – they are stunning! All the best with your show.

  15.

Charlotte they are truly beautiful 🙂 – I too love the one with the bouquet. Thank you for sharing and all the best!

    •

Thanks Rene for your comments 🙂 I’m just back from my show in Nantwich it was fabulous. The church was full, it was a beautiful hot sunny day, the town crier was outside the church and there was ice cream and happy people in Nantwich. My Nana, Grandad and their friends Christine and Maggie were there and my friend Gill brought my brother Tom to watch, the Church was full. I am simply buzzing. Afterwards we walked around the charity shops to try to find an outfit for my Eponine role in ‘Les Mis’ show in August and I got a great costume.

      Best wishes
      Charlotte

  16.

The shot of you sitting on the branch wearing the chemise, looking over your shoulder. It looks natural and pure, like your voice, yet conveys a bit of mystery…

    •

Thanks Lorrie, I love the idea of being mysterious, please let me know if you write up your lemon curd recipe it’s my Dads favourite and I owe him a treat for my website 🙂

      Best Wishes
      Charlotte

  17.

    Hi,
Thank you for visiting and following my blog!
The photos you posted are very beautiful. They are simple but at the same time very charming 🙂

Stephen Hughes July 25, 2013 at 9:22 am

Hi Charlotte – this was an interesting read, and I think your father has done a far better job than my Dad would have with mine (and me to that matter)!
I think you picked a great day in the park for the shots (first think in the morning or just before dusk – shadows are at there best then)

You business card is great it says every thing you do – and how to contact your agent/manager (not you direct as you can get lots of spam down the phone)!
I’d use the back also as just to bullet point your ability or clients or venues etc!!
Cheshire is lovely (I used to live and breath in Altrincham many years ago)!

    Stephen

    •

Thanks Stephen, I like the idea of using the back of the card by printing some bullet points, I’ll have to see if my Dad can do that. Jayne Wilson my first singing coach is from Bowden near Altrincham it is a lovely town and great for shopping especially on a Sunday.

      Best wishes

Bodens very nice (Fred the Weatherman lives there)… I enjoyed Dunham Massey forbits lovely walks and nice coffee house too! But prefer Hale for shopping!!
Good luck with you Dad and the business card otherwise send it to me (I’ve been a graphic designer for too many years)!

  19.

I like the last one best but they are all good. 🙂

  20.

I think they are all lovely pictures. My favorite is the one with the flowers.

  21.

I think the first or last one would look best for a business card. Probably if I were pushed I would choose the last one!

  22.

Lovely pictures! I liked the 2nd and the last one best I think. 🙂 But for a business card I’d say the 2nd. 🙂

    •

Thank Cecilia, I think I may end up asking my Dad to print a few of each for different occasions if he can. Thanks for popping by its lovely to see you again.

      All the best
      Charlotte

      •

That sounds like a good plan. Go for it! 🙂
Of course. You have a great space here and I like reading your blog. 🙂

        All the best,
        Cecilia

  23.

Charlotte, it seems to be the background image which is making the site slow to load, once that has loaded once the rest of the site loads quickly. Optimise that image and the whole thing should load faster.

  24.

Hi Charlotte, thanks for dropping by & following my blog! Wishing you all the very best in your future endeavors 🙂

    Cheers, N

    •

It’s fascinating reading about the culture and family lives from around the world. Thank you for your best wishes. I appreciate your comments.

Best wishes and call again when you can 🙂
      Charlotte

  25.

Nice posting- I like the last, it shows something different about you and enlarges the knowing of your talent. But you would have to make sure your singing is highlighted in the text.

    •

Thank you John, I’m glad you liked that one I think that it reveals my inner child. I still believe in fairies, I do, I do, I do 🙂

Best wishes and thanks for dropping by and visiting again.
      Charlotte

  26.

Beautiful pictures. I think the one with the bouquet is good for a business card but they’re all lovely.

    •

I have a friend called Mark who is from Singapore, actually he’s my brother’s friend from his time at Warwick University, I’d love to go there one day. I really enjoyed looking through the beautiful photos on your blog. My brother is a mathematician he finished his MMath last year obtaining a first class honours degree and I love maths too, I believe a lot of mathematicians are creative at heart.

Best wishes and I hope you can call again and visit soon
      Charlotte

      •

What a small world; I did my maths degree at Warwick too (only a BA and only a Second), I loved that Warwick let you choose whether you thought Mathematics was an Art or a Science.

  27.

I like number 3 the best, but think 2 is also very nice. All the photos are very good. Good luck with the concerts. Delamere Forrest is beautiful, I used to live in Sale, cheshire until we moved to Wales when I was 12 and we used to visit there sometimes.

    •

My Dad was born in Sale and moved to North Wales when he was 8 until he was 17, what a coincidence. Did you used to build dens in the forest? It was my brothers and my favorite thing to do if we had time. Although when I put my new pink wellie that I got for Christmas into a rather deep puddle one Christmas I wasn’t so enchanted!

      All the best,
      Charlotte

  28.

I love all the pictures are really nice, but especially the first and last one, but e one on the business card is good too!
Thanks for following my blog, I can’t wait to read more of yours!
Oh, and have you lived in Scotland all your life?

    •

I’ve only lived in Glasgow for one year it is a lovely City, very friendly people and everything is in walking distance, the live music scene is very exciting. I was born in Winsford, Cheshire (well the hospital was in Crewe) and lived there all my life until the time I went to University. Thanks for dropping by 🙂

      Best wishes
      Charlotte

  29.

Beautiful photos of a beautiful woman with an amazingly beautiful voice!

  30.

I like the first one and last one the best–but also like the card you have. I think the first is a bit more “typical” for a business card but who am I to know? I am a writer, not a professional musician! I liked the bits about your mom complaining–I would, too!

  31.

So so beautiful! My favorite is the first photo, but I think the one on your card already looks most appropriate for a business card! Hang that first one in a prime spot over your fireplace!!

    •

Thanks Amanda, a business card sounds a bit formal for what I use them for, it’s more of a leave behind after concerts so that people that have enjoyed my concert can check out my website or blog to check on my progress. My brother was in to collecting cards and he said we should number them so that people can collect them like Pokémon cards lol. I had a good tip from Stephen Hughes above to put some bullet points on the back of the card so that the picture can be left in full on the front and that’s my Dad’s next project 🙂

      Best wishes
      Charlotte
p.s. that acupuncture mat looks painful!

  32.

I like the third one, though the one you currently have on your business card also looks good. Sounds like your family are great at supporting you and your music.

    •

Hi Zoya, I have a very supportive family, the times my younger brother got dragged around to music festivals in his school holidays wasn’t perhaps his first choice of spending a whole day, but now he’s the Simon Cowell of amateur classical adjudicators, it’s a good thing he doesn’t have a buzzer because I think he’d be just as direct! He even dares tell me if he hasn’t liked something!

      Best wishes
      Charlotte

  33.

You look FABULOUS!! I thought of you when I posted the recent poem — knowing? for the aria I mention, and have been meaning to visit — when I got your follow on my other blog My Holistic Table. I regret not being able to post often, juggling the Journey which has been a breathtaking one, along with homeschooling. Thanks for your patience. I’m glad you’re settled here again. Xxx Diana

  34.

I love the one with the fairy book. Your expression is as if a fairy has you mesmerized.

  35.

Hi Charlotte – Thanks for visiting my blog 🙂
Your photos are lovely, the bouquet picture in particular. Delamere makes me think of home (Macclesfield) so thanks for sharing your pictures.
    Rianne

    •

I love your Scottish Bucket list of Scottish experiences what a good idea. I’ll be going to my first Edinburgh Fringe Festival this year, have you been over to Glasgow? It is a lovely City, fabulous shopping and the Willow Tea Rooms are well worth a visit. I want to visit ‘Fingal’s Cave’ too, it is like a natural cathedral and the cave’s Gaelic name means the melodious cave. (Link) Mendelssohn visited the cave and wrote an overture about it called ‘The Hebrides’.

Did you notice I’m at Gawsworth Hall in Macclesfield next Sunday in a show, I think we can go to the grounds from 2pm, I’m not sure if the house is open to the public though.

Thanks for visiting and commenting 🙂

      Best Wishes
      Charlotte

  36.

    These photos are absolutely beautiful!

    Thank you for sharing them

  37.

You are just as beautiful as your voice! Love the photos and way to go dad for hooking you up on your website 🙂 Gotta love those dads 🙂

    •

Hi LeSha, lovely name my cousins daughter is called Shay. I wouldn’t have set up my website or this blog without my Dad’s technical skills he likes writing programs and code but he doesn’t really have the time spare.

Thanks for visiting, all the best 🙂
      Charlotte

  38.

I am astounded by the beauty in these images. Both lady and the scenary, of course.

  39.

Glad it all went well in Nantwich. I have to vote for the picture in the Union Flag dress. Not because I am particularly nationalistic, but it is very unusual, and leaves no doubt about your origins. You seem to be doing exceptionally well, with both blogging and singing, and I am really pleased for you. Regards from Norfolk, Pete.

  40.

I absolutely love the first picture! (beautiful dress and expression)

    •

Hello Kelly, I usually smile full on direct into the camera so I thought I’d try some different looks so I’m pleased to have the feedback 🙂

      Thank you, all the best
      Charlotte

  41.

No…you weren’t boring ME. But thn I could relate! 😀
    Nice blog ♥

    •

Hi Dawn, I love your tuna noodle casserole, I love meals I can throw in the oven for 20 to 30 minutes, if you used macaroni tubes would you have to boil them first or just put them into the bowl with the soup?

      Best wishes 🙂
      Charlotte

  42.

Tastefully and artistically executed, REALLY!! I love them all but especially…# 4 & #6. Many blessings toward your new thrust in your exciting career…mgsong of thedailylily.com

    •

Your daughter Lily is going to love her blog memories when she’s older, I love the key words in your word cloud; daddy, dancing eat, beautiful, Cinderella, princess, pretend – all my favourite words too – where’s the singing? 🙂

      Best wishes
      Charlotte

  43.

I am loving the first and last photos also! The first for its understated formality and the last for whimsey.

    •

Hello Joy, when you say on your blog that you want your clients, “to remember the mood and magic of the day”, that is just lovely. I will always remember the day we took these photographs as I do when I look through my scrapbook my Mum presented to me on my 18th birthday 🙂

      All the best
      Charlotte

  44.

I love th one with the fairy book the most 🙂 but they are all beautiful!
    groetjes, Francina

  45.

    Hi Charlotte,
I love #3 and the last one. So glad you
have checked out our website – thedailylily.com.
Praying and wishing you the best with your website.

    •

Thank you for visiting, my Dad is printing my cards tonight ready for Friday at Lytham St Annes which is near Blackpool in Lancashire and Monday in Edinburgh, I am so so excited now 🙂

Best wishes and thanks for the prayers,
      Charlotte

  46.

I think the outfit with the sheer sleeves works the best.

    •

Thanks Eric, this is one of my favourite dresses, I’ve had it a couple of years now, it has little birds and bird cages on it so I always think of Green Finch and Linnet Bird when I wear it.

      Best Wishes
      Charlotte

      •

I really enjoyed the performance of that song – Green Finch and Linnet Bird – that you uploaded. Such beautiful words and music… Now the dress seems even more fitting!

  47.

Your voice is beautiful. Your Father must be very devoted to you to come all that way to record your voice. I like the top pic and the bottom pic the best. Thanks you for following itsmindbloggleing.

Thank you for liking my blog. You have a beautiful voice! I too will enjoy following your journey and wish you all the best. 🙂

  49.

Thank you for following my blog, very kind of you. I must admit your voice has immense power which seems effortless for you. If I were not in Australia I would be requesting a photoshoot of you 😉 take care and best wishes to you.
