My Dad created my website using Adobe Dreamweaver, he isn’t a website designer and works full time so it was a weekend project 🙂 He’s decided it’s not so easy to view on tablets and smartphones in the format he’s used so now he’s wanting to change it. He is also concerned it is slow to load …..( very technical stuff, am I holding your interest? Because my eyes started glazing over at this point of the conversation with my Dad this weekend, sorry Dad only joking 🙂 )
We took some new photographs to use on my blog, influenced by some of the lovely photography blogs I look at and have shown to him. The weather was great so we trekked into Delamere Forest in the Cheshire Plain, we have always loved Delamere Forest as a family and we even visit on Christmas Day for a walk around and usually a game of rounder’s using pine cones and sticks. It was quite funny watching people’s faces as we pulled a wheely case into the forest containing a change of dresses and a large dust sheet to use as a changing room whilst I switched outfits. We walked into a quiet clearing and set up camp. My Mum spent the first fifteen minutes picking up litter, complaining to me about people leaving empty crisp packets and water bottles in such a beautiful place, she put them in a plastic bag and we took the rubbish home because we couldn’t find a bin in the car park.
I’ve used up all my business cards so we need to print some new ones too so I need to choose a picture, I also wanted to put my blog address on them. Which photograph from this selection do you prefer, or do you think we should stick with this one?
Once selected I have to get my Dad to print off my cards as I have a concert tomorrow lunchtime at St Mary’s Church in Nantwich at 12:30 pm and then on Saturday 27th July at Tideswell Parish Church where I will be singing with the Tideswell Male Voice choir at 7:00 pm.
I enjoyed this post very much, Charlotte, and I loved #1,3,6, but they’re all beautiful photos of you! 🙂

Hi Joan, the last picture is one with my fairy book, I always believed fairies were real and whenever I lost a tooth I got a tiny, tiny typed letter off the tooth fairy telling me well done for looking after my teeth for building their castles 🙂

Thank Koko, it was a lovely day, it started off badly, first of all my Dad had left his camera at work so he had to go and get it, then the camera battery was flat so we had to wait while it recharged, we intended to go near to the lake in the forest and Mum said it was left but Dad was sure it was right, oops we went right – should have been left! We soon got into the photo shoot though and all had a fab time.
I need to eat more greens – I might have to try out your veggie drink.

Mom was right! hehehe; I got a chuckle out of that! My boys drink green shots that I make! Keep in mind any greens will work and toss in an apple can make the world of difference in some drinks. I will post more recipes of what I make to give you ideas but again I usually toss in what I have. Believe it or not spinach, carrots and a celery is very good too! Enjoy your evening. Koko
Thanks fir the tip about using an apple as I would not have thought to do that. Do you add any extra fluids before you juice the vegetables or is there enough retained in the veg and fruit ?

Oh thank you for asking…yes I usually add about a cup or more of water and some ice as my blender blends so fast it can actually make soup! My drink ends up being about 16 ounces of liquid. You will know if you need more water if your greens are not mixing well and is thick. I make a very large amount and usually fill it up again with more water through out the day. Hope this helps. Thanks Rene for your comments 🙂 I’m just back from my show in Nantwich it was fabulous. The church was full, it was a beautiful hot sunny day, the town crier was outside the church and there was ice cream and happy people in Nantwich. My Nana, Grandad and their friends Christine and Maggie were there and my friend Gill brought my brother Tom to watch, the Church was full. I am simply buzzing. Afterwards we walked around the charity shops to try to find an outfit for my Eponine role in ‘Les Mis’ show in August and I got a great costume.

Hi Charlotte – this was an interesting read, and I think your father has done a far better job than my Dad would have with mine (and me to that matter)!
I think you picked a great day in the park for the shots (first think in the morning or just before dusk – shadows are at there best then)
You business card is great it says every thing you do – and how to contact your agent/manager (not you direct as you can get lots of spam down the phone)!
I’d use the back also as just to bullet point your ability or clients or venues etc!!
Cheshire is lovely (I used to live and breath in Altrincham many years ago)!

Charlotte, it seems to be the background image which is making the site slow to load, once that has loaded once the rest of the site loads quickly. Optimise that image and the whole thing should load faster.

I have a friend called Mark who is from Singapore, actually he’s my brother’s friend from his time at Warwick University, I’d love to go there one day. I really enjoyed looking through the beautiful photos on your blog. My brother is a mathematician he finished his MMath last year obtaining a first class honours degree and I love maths too, I believe a lot of mathematicians are creative at heart.

What a small world; I did my maths degree at Warwick too (only a BA and only a Second), I loved that Warwick let you choose whether you thought Mathematics was an Art or a Science.
I like number 3 the best, but think 2 is also very nice. All the photos are very good. Good luck with the concerts. Delamere Forrest is beautiful, I used to live in Sale, cheshire until we moved to Wales when I was 12 and we used to visit there sometimes.
My Dad was born in Sale and moved to North Wales when he was 8 until he was 17, what a coincidence. Did you used to build dens in the forest? It was my brothers and my favorite thing to do if we had time. Although when I put my new pink wellie that I got for Christmas into a rather deep puddle one Christmas I wasn’t so enchanted!

I like the first one and last one the best–but also like the card you have. I think the first is a bit more “typical” for a business card but who am I to know? I am a writer, not a professional musician! I liked the bits about your mom complaining–I would, too!

Thanks Amanda, a business card sounds a bit formal for what I use them for, it’s more of a leave behind after concerts so that people that have enjoyed my concert can check out my website or blog to check on my progress. My brother was in to collecting cards and he said we should number them so that people can collect them like Pokémon cards lol. I had a good tip from Stephen Hughes above to put some bullet points on the back of the card so that the picture can be left in full on the front and that’s my Dad’s next project 🙂

I love your Scottish Bucket list of Scottish experiences what a good idea. I’ll be going to my first Edinburgh Fringe Festival this year, have you been over to Glasgow? It is a lovely City, fabulous shopping and the Willow Tea Rooms are well worth a visit. I want to visit ‘Fingal’s Cave’ too, it is like a natural cathedral and the cave’s Gaelic name means the melodious cave. (Link) Mendelssohn visited the cave and wrote an overture about it called ‘The Hebrides’.
Did you notice I’m at Gawsworth Hall in Macclesfield next Sunday in a show, I think we can go to the grounds from 2pm, I’m not sure if the house is open to the public though.
