Twelve Days of Christmas – Day 4

December 28, 2013 — 45 Comments

Today we decided to go “Sale Surfing” at the Trafford Centre near Manchester. ย The idea was to have a good look around and see what bargains we could bag ๐Ÿ™‚

We started in the John Lewis store but we were unimpressed with the selection. The clothes that we found were sized a little oddly and the cut priced items that were left in the formal or evening dress wear selection were not in my size. It is a shame that due to my illness I had missed out on the best bargains at the start of the sale ๐Ÿ™ as I do love the selection designers available in store.

Then we checked out a number of stores as we searched for those elusive little gems, the real sale bargains that are usually hidden on the rails or tucked away at the back of the shops, but we did not have a great deal of luck.

In Selfridges I was in my element when I found a concession called Angel’s Face. ย It stocked all the clothes I would have worn when I was little and in particular a lovely little tutu caught my eye. ย On closer inspection the sizes were most definitely not for me although I was so tempted to try one on as it would have looked great on ๐Ÿ™‚

After several hours we called it a day and left as it was getting too busy to remain enjoyable. ย Not many real bargains to be had this year so back home empty handed but as the pleasure is in the hunt I am not too upset.

I completed my drawing for the day back at home and recorded the next instalment for you. It has been great to see everybody joining in my with my little challenge and a special thank you toย mareymercy for sending me the link to an electronic random picker ๐Ÿ™‚

Lovely- as usual. Hope your Christmas was great.

Hi Charlotte, I look forward each day to listening to you sing the next day of Christmas. Sounds like shopping was inexpensive since all you did was look! Good way to save money. LOL!

Good to see you are feeling well enough to get out and about. Shopping can be gruelling at times!

Hi charlotte, i like when you say “pleasure is in the Hunt”…..;-)) …..Very nice draw, picture and vidรฉo. Every day you are christmas women with us. Thanks . Smilles for you and familly !!

Birds do sing and so this is another intricate drawing. Your voice is better too, I guess.

How fun. Too bad the tutu is too tiny. It’s hard to judge size in a picture but the tutu looked like it would make a cute lamp shade. That would surely make a conversation piece for your dorm room. ๐Ÿ˜€

You should see my lampshade the guy in the shop virtually gave it away to me because he hadn’t been able to sell it, even on sale, for a long time lol. When I was little I had a pink tutu and a black tutu, not quite as fancy as this, and I’d wear it out with leggings and people used to walk past smiling ๐Ÿ˜‰
      Best wishes

A woman of many talents wow.
    keep smiling

The decor of the store you went to reminds me of some stores in my parents’ home town. You’re sounding great!

Hi Alisa, the only sad thing about the mall is that it took trade away from some lovely old towns nearby and they’re slowly emptying of big stores ๐Ÿ™
We only go as a family once or twice per year because my Mums into small business and local towns support.
      Best wishes

Love the artwork. Hate the sales that aren’t really sales! At least you sound like you had a great time in spite of not finding any bargains! ๐Ÿ™‚

The next day my parents went to Marks and Spencer’s and got a fab pair of shoes for me less than half price that I nearly bought full price before Christmas so that was good and my brother finally got his saucepans today with 50% off.
      Best wishes

I love the video and the drawing. Great! ๐Ÿ™‚

Here in LA, the big stores used to order special goods for their after Christmas “sales.” The specials would have different model numbers from the usual stock and often had standard features missing. Smaller chains didn’t purchase in quantities necessary to do that, so their sales were real bargains. It helps to know someone at the store who can tell you where the good stuff is stashed…or if there even is any.

Good tip about the staff – I’ve got to be good the next couple of months I usually get about seven or eight days work in over the Christmas break but I could only do my on-call duty and I may go in for a couple of days New Year before I go back ๐Ÿ˜‰
      Best wishes

I am so enjoying this adventure over the 12 days. Love the music, of course! Love the art, too! And I’m enjoying hearing about your activities each day. ๐Ÿ™‚

Checking up on you. Love the two-toned crinoline slip. Dianne

Thanks for checking in on me Dianne, the blog is so much more fun with all the lovely comments. The slip only went up to 13 year old girl or I’d have tried it on he he. My Dad would have treated me too he can’t resist the pink fairy look lol :0 and he knows I would have worn it to destruction.
      Best wishes
