Twelve Days of Christmas – Day 4

FourCallingBirds

Today we decided to go “Sale Surfing” at the Trafford Centre near Manchester.  The idea was to have a good look around and see what bargains we could bag 🙂

We started in the John Lewis store but we were unimpressed with the selection. The clothes that we found were sized a little oddly and the cut priced items that were left in the formal or evening dress wear selection were not in my size. It is a shame that due to my illness I had missed out on the best bargains at the start of the sale 🙁 as I do love the selection designers available in store.

Then we checked out a number of stores as we searched for those elusive little gems, the real sale bargains that are usually hidden on the rails or tucked away at the back of the shops, but we did not have a great deal of luck.

In Selfridges I was in my element when I found a concession called Angel’s Face.  It stocked all the clothes I would have worn when I was little and in particular a lovely little tutu caught my eye.  On closer inspection the sizes were most definitely not for me although I was so tempted to try one on as it would have looked great on 🙂

After several hours we called it a day and left as it was getting too busy to remain enjoyable.  Not many real bargains to be had this year so back home empty handed but as the pleasure is in the hunt I am not too upset.

I completed my drawing for the day back at home and recorded the next instalment for you. It has been great to see everybody joining in my with my little challenge and a special thank you to mareymercy for sending me the link to an electronic random picker 🙂

  1. Hi Charlotte, I look forward each day to listening to you sing the next day of Christmas. Sounds like shopping was inexpensive since all you did was look! Good way to save money. LOL!

  2. Hi charlotte, i like when you say “pleasure is in the Hunt”…..;-)) …..Very nice draw, picture and vidéo. Every day you are christmas women with us. Thanks . Smilles for you and familly !!

    1. When I sing in our conservatory at home all the birds join in, its quite funny 😉 they just get louder and louder.
I’ve been practising some Mozart arias too, they songs are warming up slowly.
      All the best

  3. How fun. Too bad the tutu is too tiny. It’s hard to judge size in a picture but the tutu looked like it would make a cute lamp shade. That would surely make a conversation piece for your dorm room. 😀

    1. You should see my lampshade the guy in the shop virtually gave it away to me because he hadn’t been able to sell it, even on sale, for a long time lol. When I was little I had a pink tutu and a black tutu, not quite as fancy as this, and I’d wear it out with leggings and people used to walk past smiling 😉

    1. Hi Alisa, the only sad thing about the mall is that it took trade away from some lovely old towns nearby and they’re slowly emptying of big stores 🙁
We only go as a family once or twice per year because my Mums into small business and local towns support.

    1. The next day my parents went to Marks and Spencer’s and got a fab pair of shoes for me less than half price that I nearly bought full price before Christmas so that was good and my brother finally got his saucepans today with 50% off.

  4. Here in LA, the big stores used to order special goods for their after Christmas “sales.” The specials would have different model numbers from the usual stock and often had standard features missing. Smaller chains didn’t purchase in quantities necessary to do that, so their sales were real bargains. It helps to know someone at the store who can tell you where the good stuff is stashed…or if there even is any.

    1. Good tip about the staff – I’ve got to be good the next couple of months I usually get about seven or eight days work in over the Christmas break but I could only do my on-call duty and I may go in for a couple of days New Year before I go back 😉

    1. That’s lovely Deborah thank you. I won’t get Dad to video me with the vacuum lol that’s not so exciting, although we did go for a walk into the woods today to record my video 😉
