Twelve Days of Christmas – Day 5

FiveGoldRings

I went to see one of my best friends from school today, Oscar White.

Oscar took Drama, Dance and Music Theatre classes with me but sadly left before 6th form to go to Hammonds a specialist performing arts college.

Oscar and I played Ryan and Sharpay from our version of High School Musical

He is now training as an actor in London so I don’t get chance to see him often so it was good getting all of his training updates 😉

Oscar’s parents have recently taken over the Dun Cow Inn in Ollerton near Knutsford and I had a lovely lunch there, it was very busy and a lovely atmosphere, it was great catching up with his Mum too.

Then I got back to some Music studies when I got home; vocal practise and music theory. I drew my golden rings picture and recorded the video, for all you animal lovers reading the coat is fake 🙂

Knowing what a clutz I am Mum warned me not to hold the candle too close to my coat or hair so I nearly couldn’t sing for laughing.

  1. About to head out for a movie, but wanted to listen to you first.. That was fantastic, and the drawing was wonderful too!!! I know you will be ready once you go back to school.

  2. Charlotte. I love this. You amaze me…..never knew you could draw as well as everything else you can do. Clever lady. Also LOVED the High School Musical photos. Happy memories of you both.
    Miss you. Hilary xxxxxx

    1. Hi Hil, miss you too ;). I took the art academy and performing art academy in year 9 enjoyed them both.

    1. Thanks Darren, the gold rings are actually ‘peel and stick’ stickers, I tried to draw them and coloured them yellow but they just didn’t shine enough and the little gold stickers my Mum had for her card projects went great with what I was trying to do.

      1. Hi Charlotte, I’m sure it will be everything you’ve imagined it will be! Do they sing, Auld Lang Syne in Jolly Olde England? Will you be leading the chorus?

        Likewise,

        Tom

  3. Brilliant! Where are you going to sing next? it’s quite exciting wondering where you will sing the next instalments. Looking forward to them all xxxx

    1. I was going for the moose look ;0
I got a bit worried about the candle though after joking about it because a couple of friends had only told me recently their hair had caught fire on candles! :/ yikes

  4. Wishing your friend, Oscar, well in his performance studies. A good range of rings and the verse of the song that people tend to break into harmony for. Love that line in the song.

    1. Thanks Janice, it’s great to be out and about and mixing with friends and family although I’ve stayed away from a few elderly friends of ours so I don’t pass anything on, I’ll catch up again the next time I’m home 😉

    1. Glad you’ve enjoyed them Eric, I did wonder about drawing five goldfinches as two men William and Ceil Baring-Gould suggested the first seven days of gifts were all birds and the five golden rings referred to the ringed pheasant, whilst others said they were five goldfinches but a publication from 1780 clearly had them illustrated as jewellery.

  5. Your voice sounded so much stronger and clearer. I’m glad you continue down the path of recovery. Most women would like one gold ring. How lovely you have five.

    1. He he I’d love five gold rings, I have just one my Mum gave me, it was hers, on my 16th birthday. I sound a bit breathy on today’s but it’s only because we’d been walking in the woods 😉

    1. Hi Linda it’s so difficult to keep in proper contact with everyone as we all went off in different directions but it’s as if time stood still when we meet up again 😉

  6. I came looking for Day 7 and you weren’t there. So I looked back and realized I had missed Day 5…rings and Oscar. Your voice is definite better hen you are indoors. I suspect cold and damp affect it?? Dianne

    PS Happy new Year!

  7. I’m gonna try ‘warming up my voice’ when I shout at Bonzo to “shut up” when he’s barking at dogs in the next village at 2am 😀
