Twelve Days of Christmas – Day 10

TenLordsaLeaping

I arrived back in Glasgow this evening and it was raining so we had to unload all of my luggage whilst trying to dodge the worst of the weather. Once we were settled in my flat I put the kettle on so that I could make my Mum and Dad a nice warming cup of tea. Then I ran around turning up all the radiators as the flat was really cold having been empty over the Christmas break.

Arghhh !! the boiler was not working, no heating and no hot water. My Dad had a read through the manual for the boiler but he could not get it working. So I telephoned British Gas to report the problem as I took out their Homecare cover when I moved in. Guess what they don’t class no hot water and no heating as an emergency and the earliest I could persuade them to come out is tomorrow morning otherwise it would have been Monday.

I am so glad that I had a hot water bottle from my Mum and Dad this Christmas because I am going to need it tonight 🙂

So you will have to excuse my little dance in tonight’s verse as I was trying desperately to keep warm 🙂

  1. Very energetic rendition. I hope you get your heat soon. We started the day at -2 degrees F (-19 degrees C) but I have to say I am fortunate enough to have heat and two cats to warm me up. 😀

  2. Brrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!! That’s not a great start to the year. Love the hoppity skippity leappity men. Hope you get warm soon xxxx

    1. My friend Terry came up with this idea when he watched my original video he said it would have been funny just to shut the door as I sang. I have lots of friends with quirky humour :/ lol

  3. Our heater went out not long ago too – we had one seriously chilly night waiting to get it fixed but lots of blankets and clothing layers helped 🙂

  4. Hilarious! Maybe if you would have promised British Gas a performance like this, they would come earlier! Think warm thoughts. 🙂

  5. Hope you get heat soon! Bundle up and keep warm. Dancing and singing around the house will help and it’s fun too!

USA east coast is recovering from a blizzard of over18 inches of snow and very cold temps in single digits. I am snuggling under a warm afghan as I write this.

  6. Lovely. And I like your art work today, Such dapper lords a leaping. Hope you don’t have to wait too long to get heat. It could get mighty cold.

  7. Is British Gas the only game in town when it comes to “Homecare” or the equivalent thereof? I’m in the industry (HVAC) and “No Heat” is positively an emergency, especially when the ambient temperature is near freezing or colder. The present temperature here in New England is -5 degrees F and plummeting. According to the local meteorologist the temp could go as low as -20 F before dawn tomorrow!

Loved your latest rendition and had you not volunteered the information about how cold it is in your flat, I would have chalked up your effusiveness to your ever-ebullient self… 😉

    Stay warm,

    Tom

    1. Hi Tom, I should have said Scottish Gas, I’m not sure if they’ve got much competition, my parents have always been with British Gas so we just took out a similar policy, they came at quarter past nine this morning and fixed it so I’m toasty now 😉

      1. Watch out for my next post. There may just be a story on them if I can ever think straight again………the four of them just left, with me trailing behind with all the things they forgot.

  8. Adorable. That’s the first word that comes to mind. I’m glad you got your heat fixed. Being cold is never any fun. Am looking forward to your further verses with mixed feelings. Anticipation of what is to come and disappointment that it will soon end. Stay warm.

  9. Brrrr… don’t fancy Glasgow with no heating 🙁 So I won’t mention it’s 17 here this week 🙂 (sorry kid, lol)

  10. I love your 12 Days of Christmas posts! Happy New Year and warmest wishes to you–literally! (It’s horrible being cold!) While much of Canada struggles through record cold temperatures, we’re enjoying sunny mild weather on the West Coast.

  11. Hi, loved the video. Sorry to hear that your boiler isn’t working. Though I like the concept of snow fall but I do end up falling sick atleast once every year during the winters. Hope your heater and boiler starts working as quickly as possible. 😀

And you need to improve your dancing a bit 😛

    1. Thanks Linda, I’ve just joined a new dance group tonight, it was great exercise and good fun. A jazz/ballet fusion with a show at the end of term – excited.
      Best wishes
