Summer Recitals and Concerts

Rochdale-Poster-2nd-July-2014

I am looking forward to returning to Rochdale in Lancashire again this summer to perform in a lunch time recital with Russell Lomas. I love to perform in these recitals and I get a lovely warm reception from the audiences who attend. I have several others in the diary for over the summer break and will keep you all informed during the coming weeks.

One of the songs that I have been working on this year is “Endless Pleasure, Endless Love” from Handel’s opera Semele.  I was beautifully accompanied on the piano here by Russell Lomas in Warrington.

One date to keep free if you are in the Cheshire area is Sunday August the 10th. I have been asked, along with four other soloists, to join the Tideswell Male Voice Choir again this year for their Gawsworth Hall summer spectacular. Dennis Kay has asked me to sing two new songs from “The Phantom of The Opera” during the first half of the show and then perform the songs that I sang last year from “Les Miserables” in the second half.

It is a wonderful venue with large open gardens which make a beautiful backdrop for an afternoon picnic before the show starts at 18:30 pm. Having attended school in Knutsford, Cheshire I love to perform here as it is close enough to bump into old friends and catch up with them 🙂

If you want to book tickets they are available on Gawsworth Hall Website

    1. I will Matt, I’m reprising some of my old musical theatre repertoire at Gawsworth so that’s exciting because they’re my favourite songs from the Phantom of the Opera. Oooh I just thought I’ll need a new dress he he.

  2. Very cool, and I think once again you’ll bring the house down with your performance… Something about summer and beautiful music just go together so well. Cheers.

    1. Thanks Randall you are so right, I hope it’s a beautiful day because people take wine and a picnic and make an afternoon of it at Gawsworth Hall in the beautiful gardens; you would love the manor house to photograph.

      1. This does sound perfect Charlotte. A nice picnic, great music and then scenes to photograph…perfect. Take care, Randall

    1. Yes, it’s good discipline to practise every day and events each month with new repertoire keeps me on my toes. Thanks for the luck I bottle it.

  3. That sounds so exciting! I hope it goes really well. Unfortunately, a bit too far away for me. Will you be able to record anything from either performance?

    1. Nothing planned Marcus, I’m happy sharing my training progress with you here on my blog, sometimes I look back on videos with a critical eye and think what did I put that on for 🙂 but in another two years it will be interesting to hear what some of these songs sound like after four years intensive training.

      1. I am well thank you. I think a lot of churches have great acoustics. It must make a big difference if your voice pleasantly reverberates around the room.

    1. Thanks Stephanie, lots of experimenting this second year, vocal runs to practise here, I’ve so much information to take on board, I’ve been organising myself this week. Thanks for the good luck 🙂 .

    1. Thank you Iris I’m glad you enjoyed them. I think I’ve got a good mix this summer, nice and steady, a lunch time recital, a competition, a weeks summer school, an evening outdoor concert and finally a couple of lunch recitals before I go back to my full time studies. I’ve pencilled in a couple of weeks holiday too 🙂

    1. I’ve got a weeks summer course in London this August but sadly no performance opportunities, my Grandpa would love to see me in action too. I’m loving all of my new songs, I’m working hard on the Handel it’s tricky.
Best wishes hope you’re having a lovely day,

    1. Two very different venues, both fabulous fun. We had a full house and a standing ovation last year at Gawsworth Hall so we’re going to have to work even harder this year to create some extra magic.
