Charlotte’s journey in performance started with dance, pre-primary aged 3, one lesson each week with the British Ballet Organisation in both ballet and tap. She was a bit of a drama queen so aged six her parents enrolled her in a Saturday morning Stagecoach theatre school where she acted, danced and sang in groups of three stages over ten years with many musical theatre chorus and principal roles during that time. At about the age of ten she started 30 minute piano lessons at school, it was the first time she read music; she also started IDTA Ballroom and Latin dancing together with all her family. She met singing teacher Jayne Wilson GRNCM at Knutsford High School who introduced her to classical music and opera.  At 16, she commenced specialised musical training at the Junior Royal Northern College of Music passing her ABRSM Grade 8 voice with distinction and Grade 5 piano, also passing Grade 5 Music Theory with distinction. A level success followed in Mathematics; Contemporary  Dance; Drama; Music and Music Theatre.

She took part in several fully staged operas: La Rondine; Simon Boccanegra; Sir John in Love (Dance Captain); and Dido and Aeneas (First Witch) and several opera scenes.  Charlotte represented the RCS in the Kathleen Ferrier Bursary competition in Blackburn and was awarded the audience prize having won a coveted place in the final; she went on to win 3rd prize in the Hugh S Roberton Scot Song Competition 2013. In May 2014 she was Highly Commended in the Jean Highgate scholarship competition.

Charlotte formed a lieder partnership with concert pianist George Todica. They won a prestigious invitation to the 2015 International Workshop on the songs of Edvard Grieg in Norway culminating in a final performance of songs from Haugtussa, and they performed songs from this cycle at the Leeds Lieder Masterclass Fringe Concert in 2016.

  18. I like your blog, I myself have done a lot in my life and my mom was a big influence in my upbringing and my path in life. Also I wanted to thank you for following my blog.

I hope your day is positive and full of blessings. 🙂

      1. I use to call my mom every morning but she passed away in December right before her 58th birthday. I will always remember the good times I had with her and everything she has done for me. It’s always a good feeling when your parents are there for you to show unconditional love. When there are kids out there in the world who don’t have that luxury. We show feel very blessed. Also thank you for visiting my blog as will.

Best wishes to you too. 🙂

  19. Charlotte, I would like to hear you sing something that demands mean and dramatic voicing, putting wrinkles in your face and shaking your hair, all that affecting the dramatic voice. There would be something almost guttural in some moments. What I have heard goes with your looks, sweetness. You are, I am guessing, a very sweet-natured person. Also, your general appearance is sweetness itself. I have directed in the theatre, and this is the “director” coming out of me. Your voice is beautiful, as you are personally. I would like to hear that unexpected side in one so beautiful. The songs you do sing I have enjoyed with that technology you use in your photos (slick!). John Deethardt. Denver, Colorado, USA. Thank you for following me on my many blogs.

    1. 😊 funny you should say that John, I’m a scarred, coke snorting witch in Dido and Aeneas this week. Back combing awful for my hair! The things we do for art 😁. Thank you for visiting and your message.
      Best wishes
      Charlotte

  22. Thank you for following my blog! You have the most beautiful voice and have achieved so much. I pray that you will continue to live out your dreams in joy.
It was also so wonderful to read you giving thanks to your parents for their input in your and your siblings lives. How proud they must be of you!
