Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again

Tonight’s post is only a short one as my brother Matt is coming home tonight as it is his birthday later this week and I am looking forward to spending some time with him.:)

Here is a video of my performance of “Wishing You were Somehow Here Again” from “The Phantom Of The Opera” which I hope will give you a flavour of the concert.

I had such a wonderful time last Sunday performing with the Tideswell Male Voice Choir at Gawsworth Hall. It was great to perform again with the choir who always make me feel so welcome, especially Dennis Kay ( the musical director ) who makes this all possible

The Tudor house and gardens provided an incredible setting for the concert and I want to say a big thank you to Christopher Ellis ( keyboards ) and Derrick McGill ( percussion ) for the truly atmospheric accompaniment.

I found out that we had a professional photographer in the audience last Sunday who has kindly allowed us to use some of the pictures that he took.

Here is a picture of Matthew Mellor performing “Master Of The House” from “Les Miserables”. It was great fun to join in with the rest of the choir to help set the scene

    1. Thanks John, I love this venue. I took a lovely phone call from an old friend of mine called Doris the following day, to say she hadn’t known I was on the bill and was so thrilled to see me walk out and hear me singing live and that she’d had a fabulous evening which was just perfect.

    1. Des the percussionist works on a tv program called Britains Most Haunted and he wished he’d bought his smoke machine for the graveyard effect lol.

      1. I have had to sing at a couple of funerals and it is so difficult to do! You must have been very young at the time – what a brave thing to do.

      2. I was about 12 or 13, my Mum wanted me to record it but when my Aunty discovered she had cancer she asked me that if I felt I could she’d like me to sing at her service as I always sang my latest song for her every time I saw her from being about six. I think of her every time I sing this song and every time I hear it which is lovely.

    1. I love Broadway I saw Memphis, Greenday, Fuerza-Bruta, and Avenue Q on a school drama trip and Evita with Ricky Martin with my parents. Phantom is one of my all time favourite musical theatre shows too.
