  3. Hi Charlotte see that you singing in Blackburn over the weekend where abouts. Is the comp open to visitors.I have a suggestion of a song you might be interested in.I first heard it sung by a young oprano years ago at one of our concerts and thought it was beautiful. It is called Think on me.I found a rendition of it sung by Isobel Bailey (have you heard of her she was a favourite when I was growing up).Anyway if you get a chance have a listen and see what you think all the best for the weekend MAURICE

    1. Hi Maurice, the competition is open to visitors and the tickets are available on the door on the day. There are three sessions through the day and I will be singing in the first session which starts at 10:00 am and runs through until 1:00 pm. and will be held In the concert hall. The cost for the morning session is £ 3.00 and I will be singing at 12:20 pm.

The address is King George Hall, Northgate, Blackburn, Lancashire, BB2 1AA.

Here are some directions that I found on the internet:

By Road: Blackburn town centre. From M6 Junction 31 follow A667 into Blackburn or from M65 Junction 4 follow A666 to Blackburn. Feilden Street Car Park is perfectly situated only a short walk away. Tap BB2 1LH into your SatNav. On street parking in the area may be free on Sundays so it may be worth checking if you can get there.

If you can make it to the competition it would be great to see you again, but don’t worry if you can’t get there as I know it is quite a trek from where you live.

I will check out the song that you suggested as soon as the competition is over, thanks for thinking of it for me 🙂

      Warmest wishes

    1. Hello, your musings about writing or going to the gym made me chuckle it reminds me of my friend who has just started going to the gym again so she can eat more goodies on her diet. I hope you get chance to pop back, I’m hoping to get stuck in to making some Christmas cards soon so I might do a post about them 😉 Scotland is lovely, I’ve ventured from Glasgow to Edinburgh but I’ve been told the Highlands are fabulous too.

      All the best

  14. Dear Charlotte, I wish you much success in your training and career as a soprano. Your voice is lovely and I do so look forward to hearing more of it. I also thank you for visiting, liking and following “Learning to Blog.” Unfortunately, there isn’t going to be any more to like or follow. It was time to stop “learning” and start doing, so I’ve begun a new blog in its place. The link is in the last post, “New Blog, New URL.” (Or on my gravitar.) Come by to visit when you can. 🙂

    1. Hi Nina, thank you for your good wishes, I’m glad you enjoyed my music. I took a look at your new blog it’s great that you’ve taken it up I keep trying to talk my Grandpa who is his 80s into it so he can keep a track on us all.

    1. Hi Angelo, thanks for your visit I went to see ‘Gravity’ in 3D last night at the cinema it was a good concept and a great 3D watch but there wasn’t enough thriller in it for me 😉 have you seen it yet?

  15. Thanks for following my blog (www.cubabusdiaries.com) …and I’m so glad it’s given me the chance to discover you! Beautiful, beautiful voice and spirit. Though only a “sing in the shower” singer myself, I have several opera singers in my family. (You might be interested to google my cousin’s son: Patrick O’Halloran, who after years of very hard work is finding success.) I very much look forward to following your career!

  16. Hi Charlotte, I hope you won’t mind a request. Lately I have been unable to record because my voice has been rough for three months. Acording to the ENT there is nothing ‘sinister’ – on the other hand, they can’t do anything about it.

Today I met someone similar, except she has lost her voice entirely. This is what she squeaked to me: ‘My career as a singer is over before it has even begun.’

So I was was wondering if one day, if you are so inclined, you might tell us what the professionals advise singers/actors in such circumstances.

    1. Hi Rod, great question I will definitely do my research and do a blog post about this, I don’t want to just shoot an answer straight off it’s too important 😉

      Best wishes
      Charlotte

  17. Dear Charlotte,

Best wishes from the north of Germany
    Stefan

  18. Thanks for following my blog. I wish you the best on your journey and I know you will succeed as you are determined. I’m looking forward to following your career. I admire those with the capacity to sing, I couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket!!
