Hi Charlotte,
I’m so glad you decided to follow my blog because that enabled me to discover you. I’m fascinated by goal to be an opera singer and wish you all the best.
Hi there, how lucky to be taught French and English from a very young age, we start a little too late in the UK and usually we have choose either French, German and in some state schools Spanish at the age of 11. I have really enjoyed learning some Italian language skills this year and next year I will be doing German, a little of which I did at school. Thanks for dropping by and leaving a comment.
All the best
Charlotte
Hi Charlotte, thanks for following my blog, and congratulations on yours! I will definitely spend some time exploring it more. All the very best on your commendable journey towards becoming an opera singer. Bravo!

My daughter who is a soprano at her school choir was very impressed! Thanks for sharing your music and your talents with us through your blog.
Hi Charu, I am glad that you found the recordings. I must try and re-post instructions on how to play them as the instructions were on the original posts 🙂
Best wishes and call back soon

Hi there, I am grateful you found time to leave a comment Fozziemum, I loved your tale about your cake disaster, which is just the sort of thing I would do. Your oven was really clean – the one at the student digs left a lot to be desired 🙂 What music do your sons play, are they in a band or soloists?
I hope that you get the chance to come back for a listen and to relax. All the best

Thanks for following me Charlotte. In addition to my passion for cooking I am a music teacher in Minnesota, USA. I’ve been a singer all my life. I teach 6-8 grade students music appreciation and choir. I’m interested I hearing about your singing and would love a little information about folk/ traditional music for your country to share with my students during out Music from Around the World unit. Thanks for sharing your gifts with the world.
Hello, I looked up Minnesota because I hadn’t heard of it. My brother took History GCSE (15-16 year old exams) and did the American West, when he revised he drew maps so I know roughly where you are now 🙂
My school had a middle school for years 7 and 8, which is 1st year of Secondary education (age 11) and 2nd year, which is unusual for the UK at most Secondary schools are from Year 7 to Year 11, with some also having a 6th form Years 12 and 13 for A Level qualifications.
Unaccompanied traditional songs are an important part of music exams in the UK, they were always the hardest to get good grades in. You have to get your pitch right, with no piano for tempo and rhythm. ( See here ). The ABRSM songbook grades 1 to 5 have authentic traditional songs from around the world.
England – The Three Ravens
Wales – Llywn Onn (The Ash Grove)
Scotland – Skye Boat Song or Dance to your daddy
Ireland – She moved through the fair
I hope that helps 🙂
Best wishes

Wow, you’ve got some pipes! Thanks for stopping by my blog. I do appreciate it. My daughter is also a singer, and has had the good fortune to have sung at Wells Cathedral in England, Carnegie Hall with Eric Whitacre and is heading to UNC-Chapel Hill this fall and will be singing in choir/a cappella groups. She is a pre-med major but music will always be her passion. I wish you all the success in the world and hope to see you over the pond soon!
Thank you very much Anne 🙂 I love that you’re from Charlotte, when I looked it up I noticed there is a place nearby called Matthews which made me chuckle because that’s my big brother’s name.
What fabulous opportunities your daughters had to sing in the UK in such amazing venues. I hope that she always manages to keep up her singing with her studies; I know it gets pretty tough at med school.
Best Wishes

I’m so pleased to have visited your site. You are truly inspirational, and I look forward to following your journey. My daughter has recently expressed an interest in singing (nothing quite as ambitious as your path, but I know you will be of interest to her), and my mom is from Glasgow. Small world (we are in California). I look to hearing more from you. Also, thanks for stopping by my blog.
Hi Marisa, it is a small world. I started singing Disney sing-along-songs on video and musical theatre songs from Annie and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Perhaps start her off with those.

Charlotte, thank you for Following my blog….and for sharing your talent and Beauty through your own blog….Your voice is amazing and beautiful, and you of course are gorgeous….and I also like your mini-me! Your blog about the Yoga of music is indeed true….we can change the Vibrations of Life, our Consciousness, and awaken deeper parts of ourselves through the human voice…..a man has begun an OM Choir in many parts of the world, starting in Auroville where I live….you may be able to find some videos on Youtube if you find yourself interested….there is a transformative and healing power in chanting, which many are discovering more and more. Keep singing your Heart, Charlotte….. Wishing you much Inspiration, Grace and Light along your Journey….Noel

You’re welcome Charlotte…Auroville is an international township that seeks to build more Human Unity and has people from around the world living there….basically like a larger intentional community, but very difficult to explain in a few words….Yes, I am back in the U.S. at the moment until the end of this year or so….where are you? Looks like Great Britain from your site, but not certain….Anyway, wishing you Peace and Joy in everything…..and feel free to stay in touch….Noel

Thank you for your lovely compliment. Some of my favourite films are: Sweet Home Alabama, Legally Blonde, and Clueless but I like strong women in films too like Electra, Evita, the Black Widow and Geena Davis in The Long Kiss Goodnight. I enjoyed your reviews.
All the best
Charlotte
I have not seen Electra and The Long Kiss Goodnight so thanks for your personal recommendations. Thank you also for the compliment.
Charlotte, thank you so much for following my blog. I will not pretend to know anything about opera, but I do know an awesome voice when I hear one and I have no doubt you will go far and achieve your goals! I did go see “The Phantom of the Opera” onstage and enjoyed it very much so maybe I am not a total loss after all 🙂 I look forward to following your career through your blog, and tell your dad he has done an excellent job!
Hello again Joy, I’m still learning about Opera too, I love the Phantom of the Opera and the follow up Love Never Dies. I sang Wishing You We’re Somehow Here again at my favourite Aunty Marjorie’s funeral and I can’t sing it now without crying at the end, although on the day I managed to hold it together.
There is another musical called Phantom by Maury Yeston and I love singing ‘Home’ from that musical that’s a tear jerker too.
Best wishes
Charlotte
I have not heard of Love Never Dies – I will have to check into it! Your voice is so beautiful and strong, I just assumed that you did opera. My exposure to it is very limited as most opera is in another language other than English….. I am sure that your Aunty Marjorie was shedding a tear or two of joy as she looked upon you singing for her!
It will take me many years to get to opera standard but I am going to enjoy the training 🙂
You are so talented with such a beautiful voice! I’m sure I will be watching you on the big stage soon enough!!!
I’ve got a long road of training ahead but I’m looking forward to it. I love doing my performances along the way now.
All the best Charlotte
Oh, such a lovely voice! I’m so glad to be connected, Charlotte, and wish you joy in your singing.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog, I do get joy from my singing 🙂
Best wishes
Charlotte
Ciao Charlotte, Thank you for following my blog, as well. This morning, I opened your blog and clicked on the video of you singing O Mio Babbino Caro. It is my dad’s favorite song (he’s 87). It brought tears to my eyes! Your singing is amazing! I am very much enjoying reading about your time in Italy, too.
Ciao Melinda, I’m happy my song reminding you of you Dad. I agree with you Italy is beautiful I enjoyed your photos too. Did you visit the UK when you visited Europe?

Thanks for the suggestion!
Hi Charlotte
I do hope that you follow your dream on and on… our daughter had a friend at uni who was last heard of singing at the Welsh Opera. I went to her exams from time to time in London – armed with my fruit cake which she liked…
Funnily enough I am currently having some voice coaching – not to sing but to help with teaching and to ‘save’ my voice as I lost it last year fro a considerable time..
Thanks for deciding to follow my blog and I’ll make sometime to listen to you soon, but the Proms are calling.. Zappa and Philip glass last night! Excellent night.
Thank you for visiting, you should try the Alexander Technique to help with your voice projection. The method was created by Frederick Matthias Alexander as he found he was losing his voice during Shakespeare acting.
I’ve never been to the Proms but I would love to go.
Best wishes
Charlotte
Thanks yes. The technique we use is based on the Alexander work as well as Yoga and other stuff, as he is a trained singer and actor. Also I go to Feldenkrais classes once a month which helps my posture too…
You have such a gift! Thanking you for sharing your incredible voice with the world.
Thank you for visiting Diane, I love the Buddah quote on your blog ‘your work is to discover your work and then with all your heart to give yourself to it’
All the best
Charlotte
Thank you Charlotte. Namaste
Hi Charlotte – thanks for following my blog. Love to hear your voice and good luck. Tim

Your voice gave me chills. Lovely. I wish you the very best on your journey.
I love to sing a song called ‘Art is Calling For Me’ from the Enchantress. It talks of giving people chills so that is a lovely compliment thank you.
If Gill’s recording comes out well I hope to post it next week.
Best wishes
Charlotte
Would love to hear it because Art is calling for me.
